YK23 (465) - Haifa, - JUL 21, 2007
Bottle: murky brown in colour, nice head that fades quickly, weak chocolate notes, weak roasted notes, some fruitiness, faint malty sweetness, too yeasty, pretty sour and not in a good way which covers almost completely any stout like characteristics, pretty thin and watery mouthfill and body, weird beer, not much of a stout, not recommendable.

Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 7, 2011
Bottle, Jerusalem. Dark brown with a thin head. The aroma is slightly fudgey, a little bit fruity. Mostly fudgey on the palate, sweetish with not much roast. Some nut shells in the rather thin finish. Not a very good stout at all.

Koelschtrinker (7054) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 19, 2011
Pappig süßer Geruch. Getreidig-plörriger Antrunk und weiteres Aroma, etwas nach Aschenbecher im Abgang, dzwischen etwas (mild) malzig. Eher mild, trinkbar. Kein besonders tolles Stout. Test vom 24.9.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 5,8,7,6,9,6 - 6,50

Beershine (4718) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2011
Big bottle with gorgeous label. Dark brown, opaque with fizzy but long-lasting head. The aroma is more of a craft cocoa creme soda than a beer. Light on the tongue, with fluffy palate. The flavors have a strange bit of cola nut, sassafrass, sasparilla, root beer. Certainly interesting, if not outright peculiar. Not as sexy as the label, and is not a particularly well-executed stout, but overall not bad.

zvikar (1328) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JUN 1, 2009
Black to brown opaque beer with giant bubbly beige head, aroma of olives, brown suger, dry fruits, not very pleasant and definetly not typical stout aromas, flavor is really kinky roasted wood or maybe charcoals, some sweetness, some chocolate some cigarette ash and bitter finish. Unbalanced like all the rest of the beers from this brewery.

Bottled@omhper. Murky brown colour, not much head. Aroma is leather, some malts, licorice and mildly smoked notes. Flavour is quite mild, but quite much follows the aroma. Spices in the finish.

Bottled, thanks DSG! Mahogany colour, minimal head. Phenolic nose. Sweet and medium bodied. Fruity with strong phenolic rubbery/smokey flavour. Unclean and heavily medicinal. Finishes without bitterness. More like cough medicine than stout.

0.75 bottle. It’s a mystery to me as well. The beer is kosher but ironicly i have seen it only at non kosher supermarkets. I also have not managed to track down the brewery phisically or on the web. The colour is opaque.nice brown head that stays though not for too long, faint aromas of coffee, flavour is bitter and there is an unpleasant sourness, the beer seems unbalanced. Not good.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2008 Re-rate 10/1/07: 330ml bottle. Dark brown to black color with a medium, slowly-diminishing, beige head. Aroma with some roastiness, some coffee, some soap, and a bit of yeast. Flavor starts with a bit of sweetness and some hints of roast, but very soon turns into unpleasent sourness that gets even worse towards the finish. Body is quite light and carbonation is rather high. I don’t know if there’s something different between this beer and the beer I’ve rated on my first rating, but if not, I have no idea how could I give this crap a fairly decent score. 5/3/3/2/7=2.0

750 ml bottle. This beer is kind of a mystery to me. I only found 2-3 mentions of it on google, yet this is the first Israeli craft beer availabe on sale in bottles for all I know, and I found it in a supermarket in a small town next to where I live. The only mentions of an address on the label says (in Hebrew of course) "Canaan brewery, Jerusalem". Color is opaque black with a medium light brown head that diminishes rather fast. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee. Flavor is roasty and quite bitter. Medium-bodied. Not the best stout, but definitely enjoyable. Now I just hope other Israeli brewers start selling their beer bottled! 7/3/6/3/13=3.2
