The use of Hemp Flowers (among other entheogenic plants) in Beer was a common thing in whole Europe before the year 1512, when the so called "beer purity law" appeared in Germany. This purity law is perhaps the first anti drug law of the menkind... Hemp is an emparented plant with hops. Hemp flowers have more than 140 different aromatic compounds. Many of them are found in hops too and many others that are not produced by hops but fits perfect with hops together. This all different essential oils that results in the unmistakeable hemp flower aroma of Cannabia. Cannabia contains more hemp flowers than hops flowers. The production of Cannabía was autorized in ’96 by the Berliner authoritys. For more on this beer visit: http://www.dupetit.de/english/framer.htm

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark golden with a slight haze and almost no head. Almost no carbonation either. Exotic spiciness from the hemp, but very refined and delicious. 040901

rauchbier (3640) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 28, 2005
Bottle, from Beer Cellar in Lincoln. Gold, thin white head and moderate condition. Aromas of honeyed malt and solid flowery herbal hop notes, presumably some of which is hemp flowers. Full bodied in the mouth with sweet grainy malt balanced discretely by hop and again a flowery herbal note. Sweet finish with slight hop bitterness.

schuimkroaat (424) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 8, 2005
Clear (light) amber with some pearling and a small white lacy head. Strong lemon peel and spice perfumed aroma, with some solvent and some light-struck sensation. Fruity, spicy and lightly metallic flavour with roughly the same components as the aroma. Good on the palate, good with lightly spiced food.

Bottle bought in a convenience store in Amsterdam. Nice dark golden color. Funky odor. Nice mouthfeel, wicked smooth but with a sour edge. Low low carbonation.

Low head on a golden body. Rather original, the hemp gives it an interesting extra taste, rather nice in fact. This is a beer I would like to drink again and enjoy. I think the hemp goes well with this beer. Nice surprise really.

sayravai (4677) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 13, 2005
(Bottled) Golden color with a smallish, lacy head. A quite distinctive aroma of jute bag and some corn. Quite grassy, sweetish and stingy flavor with some malt and dish-washing liquid. Light to medium-bodied palate with medium carbonation. An interesting, but not very pleasant brew. The hemp feels like hops on steroids.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2004 (on bottle) I´ll take this beer over many average pale lagers, that´s for sure,m ust make it cold. There´s no assy feling after drinking this, The papaya-pineapple-sweetpeas, I don´t know aout in the long run. Especially the ending is way too fruitysh for me.
