Alraomon (64), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2008 Grabbed this as part of the week long "Canadian Beer Tasting" I did while up for a visit.
Certainly amber... a deep and rich amber, with a slightly orangish-amber head topping it. Some decent lace stickiness and a reasonable retention.
Rather light... sweet malts, and not a great deal more. Taste is similar... rather nondescript. A strange bitterness. The balance seems off in a somewhat unpleasant way. A band-aid, tangy bitterness finish.
Medium body, a little foaminess as a result of the carbonation. The cover over the palate is a little unfortunate with the finish. Not a brew I could see myself getting again, unfortunately. Not so horrible as to be a drain pour, but not exactly nice.
thoreaubred (43), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 22, 2008 Cannery Anarchist Amber Ale - 650 bottle... really nice palate and crisp, full-flavored taste. I like this stuff a lot. mabel (1710), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 6, 2008 [865-20071130] 650mL (w/ GregClow, jerc, tupalev). Grainy aroma only has a hint of mouldiness. Clear, golden amber body with a quick creamy off-white head. Sweet sickly grain flavour has a hint of raisins. Medium body. Nice but has a strange background and is yucky later. jsquire (1911), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Dec 31, 2007 Light amber color out of the bottle, with not much of a head, and what head there was disappeared quickly. Disappointing nose of sweet corn with some faint citrus hops. Flavor is sweet caramel with faint grains, but mostly corn sweetness and something vaguely vegital. Finish does present some citrus hops, but they are muted. All in all a beer that seems very macro oriented. tupalev (2337), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 5, 2007 Bottle shared with GregClow, Jerc, and Mabel, courtesy of J&M. Medium orange, decent sized white head. Taste features lots of sticky sweet malt over a light body - almost like an Oktoberfest or something similar. Mild fruity sweetness as well, and some caramel. Pretty bland really.
