Five carefully chosen malted barleys are combined with three superior hop varities to produce this traditional porter. Natural blackberry provides an exciting complexity to this easy-sipping wonder.

Rating #979 -February 15, 2014 - $5.79 CAD for a 650ml Bomber from Co-op. Pours a deep black with a bubbly tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is chocolate, roast malts, mild berry jam. Blackberry jam is highlighted on the palate, but doesn’t dominate the porter character of roast malt bitterness and toffee, cocoa sweetness. Very nice and understated for a fruit beer.

Solid porter with a light hand adding blackberry essence without overwhelming the beer. Roasty, malty, tasty.

Tasty little porter. A little thinner and lighter than I like them, but the aroma is nice, a mix of coffee and blackberry. Appearance is a cola pour with next to no head. Taste is only okay; 6/10 here, beats the average beer but nothing at all to write home about. Gentle blackberry notes over a thin, watery porter. Palate is decent, if watery. Overall, 14/20. -- One good note is that this isn’t like some Wychwood Brewing monstrosity; the blackberry flavors are subtle and accent the beer instead of dominating no. No taste of artificial flavoring here.

A nice dark beer, a limitless on the sweeter blackberry side . Smells of roasted malts and if course , blackberry fruit. The taste has roasted malt characters and a balanced blackberry fruit taste. Sweet but not over the top. Makes for an enjoyable darker beer with an easy drinking characteristic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cola with limited head and minimal lacing. Nose is berry with a hint or roasted malt. Notes of berries, some light coffee, some bitter earthy hops. Taste is light/med sweet and light bitter. Light body with medium carbonation. Nice beer.

pours clear brown with a decent of-white head, some retention. roastiness and slightly burnt caramel with a quite nice dark fruity and discernable presence - berries for sure, touch of spices and minerals. average carbonation, light body - some texture, bit of sweetness. well done fruity porter.

Pours a very dark brown letting some light through and a small light brown ring around the glass with great legs. Aroma is blackberry fist and formost, roasted malts, sweetness and cocoa follow. Flavour is a more tart blackberry, roasted malts, cocoa, a bit of alcohol harshness when colder, smooth when allowed to warm up a few degrees and a mild bitterness. Great balance on the flavour, this is my kind of fruit beer!

Faint ring of head. Light carbonation. Sweet blackberry smells mixed with vanilla malts. Nice berry start fades to malt with a touch of sweetness left in the mouth. Distinct, but not complex. True to its name and style. Enjoyable and easy to drink.

Blackberry juice aroma, with a bit of dark malt as it warms. Black and translucent, nice mocha head. Taste is interesting, kind of unexpected from the aroma. Most of the blackberry flavor comes through in the aftertaste, on first tasting get some roasty malt. Not much hop bitterness, fairly short finish. A bit thin, higher than average carbonation. Not bad.

Draft at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver. Very little head, dark in color, lots of lacing. Blackberries not so much there in aroma, but huge in finish. Rich, malty body, really enjoyable. Long finish leans heavier on the hops, but this is overall a really well-balanced beer, high on the complexity. Really the absence of fruit in the aroma should be seen as a good thing, as the overall taste of the beer comes off as a bit less sweet without, and more of a surprise. If you don’t mind the idea of fruit in your beer, this is one to look for!
