2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Chocolate covered somewhat artificial berries. Dark brown, no head. Granola with blackberries and a bit fudge.
Lightbodied, tinny mouthfeel.
Refreshing and not the worst idea, but the execution could be better.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
[1086-20080203] 650mL (w/ jerc). Aroma wafts of tart blackberries dipped in dark chocolate. Dark ruby black body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head and nice lattice lacing. More chocolate-dipped berries in the flavour mix well with lovely coffee roast notes. Full body. Nice fruit roast balance.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 1, 2010 650mL bottle - pours almost pure black with an off-white head. Blackberries are dominant. Smooth porter with a dry finish, but a little thin. Good porter, nonetheless.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2008 Strong cocoa and berries in the aroma. The fruit seems jamlike but not in an overly sweet commercial way, more like a natural fruit including some bitterness from the seeds. Dark chestnut brown coloured body is clear and topped by a decent and lasting tan head that leaves some patchy lacing. Flavour really brings together the roast with chocolate and strong fruit. Sweetness is everpresent but never dominant and dark chocolate lingers in the aftertaste. Medium body with fairly strong but soft bubbled carbonation. Avoids becoming overly sweet but gives the fruit pride of place. I have to admit, I was expecting not to like this one for some reason, but it is really quite good! Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle, Brewery Creek, Feb-07. *Brewery Creek, Dec-08.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Average frothy head and good lacing. Ruby coloured. Aroma of roasted malt and blackberries. Taste is in contrast as the fruit is muted. Long dry sour and bitter finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of CBA: Poured a dark black color porter with a nice foamy head with some good retention. Aroma of sweet berry is somewhat dominating with some light roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a nice balance between semi-sweet berries and some light dry roasted malt notes. Body is a bit light with some better then average carbonation. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by that one since I usually don’t like fruit and porter to be mixed together.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells very strongly of blackberries. Looks good. This is strange. The flavor has a slight bit of roast, quite a bit of fruit. It’s good, but not that good. I couldn’t drink a whole one of these.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(750ml bottle) Sampled at Goldorak’s Sunday MTL Gathering. Pours a thin, dissipating white head with a near opaque body. Nose of blueberry Nutri-Grain bars. Flavour of bubblegum, blackberry and raspberry 7-Up. Interesting... yet odd.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle pours a dark browish red color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild berries with some chocolate and mild hops. Taste is a berry and choclate malty sweetness with a mild hop bitterness. Medium bodied with some mild carbonation. This is a quite well done fruity porter and highly recommended.
