3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2009-08-27. Black body with a modest foamy brown head. Aroma is sweet, bit of sweet mocha like character, ovaltine, kiss of maple? Ɩ+) Flavour has a dry malt component up front, sweet malt in the middle, very light mocha character. I get hints of maple but wonder if its really there or if I am just looking for it. Average palate is smooth, lightly carbonated. Okay, its pleasant but a bit mild. I had hoped for more maple character as well. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Bottle. Black colour with a brown head. Aroma: sweet, maple syrup, fudge, vanilla, sweet licorice, light wood. Flavor: less sweet then the aroma indicates, but still lots of maple syrup, also notes of roasted/burned malt, fudge, coffee, bitter hops and a bit of sourness. Nice and interesting stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black bodied topped with a chocolate head. Maple is evident from the first whiff along with roast barley and caramel fingers. Caramel-maple body eases into the cot of roastiness. Underlying malty subtleties keep you interested and make this more than a one-dimensional novelty. A quality concoction.

Pours like Guinness but my glass went flat within two minutes. Nose is fantastic, slightly sweet maple over the expected stout aroma.
Tastes great with a smooth finish.

Bomber courtesy of savvy1982. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of sweet malt, maple syrup, caramel, some raisins. Tastes of maple sugar candy, roasted malt, some tarte hints. Enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
650ml brown bottle. Opaque, deep brown/black shade, head is light beige, compact, tight bubbled, settles to a thin layer. Great maple aroma, also brown sugar, sweet. Starts sweetish with decent maple character, dries out, and ends with a roasty bitter touch. Some hop and roasted bitterness hang on for a long, decent aftertaste. Medium, sticky body. Good mix of sweet maple and roasty stout.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer looked very stout-like from the outset, with a foamy light brown head capping a nearly black and impenetrable body. Aroma was also stout-like yet also there was something more, that being the "natural maple flavour", and not that of refined maple syrup we’re used to. Much better than that. The taste, however, will be an acquired one, as the maple did not add a lot of sweetness and in fact this beer was no sweeter than most other stouts I’ve had. It was just "different". Mouthfeel was quite right, and the finish displayed some burnt coffee offerings.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark brown with a nice layer of dark cream coloured foam. Aroma is of maple candy with molasses underneath. Light stout with an evenly balanced maple presence. Roasted malt and light molasses, even a hint of licorice. I thought this thin an metallic my first tasting but a full glass and I can appreciate the dance between the maple and the malt. Reminds me of a joust between Sir Malt and his old nemesis Mr. Hops in a good IPA.
