Living near the brewery, I taste this one often. Draft is noticeably tastier than canned or bottled IMO. At best, head is good, foamy almond. Pleasant vanilla-chocolate aroma. Flavour is dark nutty with note of chocolate - brewer imports Belgian malt - rich creamy body. Hard to balance this much flavor without making a malt liquor. Nice bitter finish. Drinks nicely room temp. or chilled.

Bottle shared with jerc & mabel - their bottle. Ruby-brown with a good sized tan head. Mild aroma of toasty malt, hint of nuts, and a bit of tobacco. Medium body. Thin flavour with faint nutty malt and a subtle earthiness in the finish. Meh.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2012 2012-07-08. Dark mahogany brown body witha modest beige head. 3+ Flavour is nicely malty, sweet, nutty toasty malt accents. Just enough bitterness to balance it. Mildly nutty toasty malt aroma. Average plus to medium bodied palate. 3+ pretty solid take on the style. 7/4/7/3/15-16 - 3.6 Bottle shared by Radek 2007-12-24. Very dark brown body with a small tan head. (3+) Muted aroma of malt, lightly toasty. Similar flavour with light nutty accents, toasty malt and moderate caramel. Average palate. A quaffable but unremarkable take on the style. 6/3/6+/3/12 - 3.0 Bottle, source not recorded.

Bottle Shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, courtesy of blankboy. Dark ruby red, no head. Mild sour, fruity aroma - nosign of nut or brown. Mild malt taste - very very bland at best. Not good, not much else to say.

My bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of Mirek. Pours a clear deep ruby with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma and flavour of caramel malt with a hint of nuts and toffee. Light to medium bodied. This didn’t do much for me, it’s not bad but it’s average at best.

Clear tea colored with a huge brown head. Sweet malty nose with puffed wheat and mild cocoa. Some white sugar sweetness with burnt grain astringency. Burnt toast, some chocolate, and caramel sweetness. Soft mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. Thanks to Secret Santa for the bottle.

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, blankboy’s bottle. Clear bright deep ruby, average off-white head. Vegetal aroma, sweet cheap malt, stale bitterness. Bland taste of light chocolate stale malt, sour cooked vegetables lingering though. Watery body, bitter, pretty ugly aftertaste - not very good at all.

Cannery is a nice Penticton, BC-based brewery and I like supporting them. Not being a big fan of nut brown ales in general, I do like this one. The head is thin, though. The color is like light roast coffee, reddish when held up to the light. It’s moderately-bodied with a thick chicory-like roasted malt flavor. There is enough hops to cut any residual sweetness, which is why I do find this beer nice.

I stumbled onto this little gem when visiting a friend in Calgary at Stampede... I was floored by the tan head, toffee aroma, and nutty finish. This is the first Brown Ale that I can remember drinking from a can... At last, a beer that one can drink on a golf course with flavour! Say NO to Coors Lite, say YES to Naramata Nut Brown...YAHOO!
