Admin note: Both ’No Justice Pale Ale’ and No Jail Pale Ale are the same beer.

Supposedly the term ’No Jail’ encountered some labelling challenges from BC’s liquor commission over possible legal ramifications.

650ml brown bottle. Standard golden pour, short white cap. Nose is grainy and has a bit of caramel. Taste has caramel malt and grains. Finishes grainy and dry. No hops in sight. Light in body, moderate carbonation. Pretty drinkable, very light session ale with enough flavour to keep drinking. Better than expected.

Aroma is a fairly pale caramel malt character. Taste is sweet malts with nice bitter balance. Body is a clear gold with a thin lace head that retains fairly.

Lagerboy (1333) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 15, 2011
Clear yellow gold, wispy soapy white head. Aroma is floral and grassy with some light malt. Tastes of light malts and faint hops. Effervescent and thin. Crisp clean finish. Good for a low alcohol brew, ideal for a long hot summer day on the raft. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

reebtogi (4388) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 10, 2011
650ml bottle poured a pale amber color with about 2 fingers of white head with nice retention leaving a pleasing thin lace on the glass. Aroma is light caramel and cereal grains with a hint of floral hops. Taste is quite impressive for this low alcohol brew with a surprisingly generous hop note and enough malty sweetness to follow. Definitely one of the best low alcohol beers on the market.

In a world where every micro-brewer seems obsessed with creating an alcohol-bomb or a hop-bomb, to release a low-alcohol (but not too low) of modest notes I need to simply say: Respek. It looks like any old lager, okay gold and a big semi-solid head on top. Aroma of corn and lemon. Flavour is soft grain and lager notes leading to a modest finish. For a low-alc they got it right..... for once.

Bottle. LIght head on dark thin amber. Aroma is sweet golden lighly roasted cereal. Can taste the hops and the grain. Better than O’Douls certainly if you are keeping the ABVs down. A bit of a metallic edge to it.

Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 29, 2011
Grain and brown sugar nose, somehow a little like raisin bran. Toasty grainy malts on the flavor, more breakfast cereal, soft hops on the finish but not a whole lot. Doesn’t taste bad, but pretty low on flavor and a little short on hops for something with "pale" in its name.

6oz sample at CAMRA Spring Sessional. Pours a medium gold with thin off white head. Aroma is faint hop, very little nose. Taste is roasted malt, decent hops. More flavour than expected based on aroma. Finishes well. Decent.

DuffMan (7030) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 6, 2011
Bottle, shared by Parksy from his recent Vancouver trip. Brassy gold, creamy white head that retains nicely. Aroma is lightly toasty malts, a little corny, with a whiff of hops. Flavour is malty, nicely so, with a little fruity hops in the finish. Slightly bitter too. Not a bad low alcohol option, but if you’re after hops then this will likely disappoint. Mouthfeel is a little thin (not surprising).

Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 3, 2011
Single bottle purchased in Kelowna, BC on 03/10/2011. Colour: Wonderful mix of gold outline with light brown middle. Low white head. Nose: Light fruits of pear, apple, banana. Hint of yeast and touch of bubblegum. Taste: Light sweet, medium bitter, light sour. Melted creamy caramel on top of bananas. Mid palate has a dry bitterness but gives back the stage to more very light creamy caramel on the finish. Not a great balance between the two mind you.
