The “Paddles Up” Pale Ale’s new packaging is a salute to the amazing Dragon Boat Festival that is held here each September.
Nothing like a dragon boat full of dragons doing the “paddles up”!!

Cask at ebga fest that’s primed with agave syrup and finished with kolsch yeast. Aroma is sweet fruity esthers, agave, light caramel and yeasty. Taste is agave sweetness, pale malts, fruity and some earthy hops. Nice well balanced beer.

650ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head that leaves some light lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and light fruits with some citrus (maybe pink grapefruit). Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with some citrus hop bitterness and other light fruits in the finish. Light bodied with decent carbonation. A good representation of the style, but just a little on the lighter side for my liking.

Unclear pale copper, creamy off white head lasts. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Citrusy sweet malt taste, some honey and fruit. Low hopped, average carbonation, light bodied. Light bitter finish. Decent, yet unremarkable. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

Partypig at the brewery taproom
Deep blond color; creamy head. Light aroma and flavor of cereals; dry mouthfeel; good bitterness level although without noticeable hop qualities. Refreshing.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at the brewery on June 10, 2010. Nose of english malt, no hops. Banana and cantaloupe flavour with mild roasty base. Just plain bland. Lifeless, watery and thin English malt. Boring.

Slightly cloudy orange with furry medium head. Nose: ripe banana, caramel, roasted hop and some milk chocolate. Sweet but delicious! Taste: Sugary hops with a background of roasted almonds. Very smooth and quite light. A note of carrot floats around. Sweet finish with doesn’t last long. Sweet but not sugar dominant. Quite mellow, Lots of fizzing but carbonation wasn’t burning. Interesting one.

Pours out a light amber brew with a pinky thick head. Settles to a rim clinger pretty quick but leaves some nice ropy lacing. Nice sweet caramel aroma all the way through - the aroma has weakened substantially from the first pour. Toss in some fruit which is very hard to decipher: something related to warm pineapple. There is also an aroma here that should be in there... it somewhat reminds me of a swimming pool. That being said, I was digging pretty damn deep probably due to the lack of aromatic depth. The taste is decent albeit mellow. Caramel malts with a notable fruit mix - weak yet tasty more rounded citrus flavours than the standard in-your-face grapefruits and apricots, etc. Somewhat of a bready quality to it. Smooth feel, ample carbonation. Finishes with a mild malt chew and light bitterness. This is very easy drinking but I’ll reach for something else to buy.

The prototypical micro-brewery pale ale, with all facets just that much better the a manufactured swill. The head fell away a bit quickly, but this does feature a pleasant, crisp taste.
