2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 CapFlu (4010) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 5, 2010
(650ml bottle) Purchased at the brewery on June 10, 2010. Nose of english malt, no hops. Banana and cantaloupe flavour with mild roasty base. Just plain bland. Lifeless, watery and thin English malt. Boring.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 30, 2010
Slightly cloudy orange with furry medium head. Nose: ripe banana, caramel, roasted hop and some milk chocolate. Sweet but delicious! Taste: Sugary hops with a background of roasted almonds. Very smooth and quite light. A note of carrot floats around. Sweet finish with doesn’t last long. Sweet but not sugar dominant. Quite mellow, Lots of fizzing but carbonation wasn’t burning. Interesting one.

Pours out a light amber brew with a pinky thick head. Settles to a rim clinger pretty quick but leaves some nice ropy lacing. Nice sweet caramel aroma all the way through - the aroma has weakened substantially from the first pour. Toss in some fruit which is very hard to decipher: something related to warm pineapple. There is also an aroma here that should be in there... it somewhat reminds me of a swimming pool. That being said, I was digging pretty damn deep probably due to the lack of aromatic depth. The taste is decent albeit mellow. Caramel malts with a notable fruit mix - weak yet tasty more rounded citrus flavours than the standard in-your-face grapefruits and apricots, etc. Somewhat of a bready quality to it. Smooth feel, ample carbonation. Finishes with a mild malt chew and light bitterness. This is very easy drinking but I’ll reach for something else to buy.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 17, 2009
The prototypical micro-brewery pale ale, with all facets just that much better the a manufactured swill. The head fell away a bit quickly, but this does feature a pleasant, crisp taste.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2006 Thought I’d give this one another go....Decent head and golden colouration. Faint malt aroma. Flavour is smooth and malty but lacking in the hop department. Fresh tasting and sessionable but still doesn’t jump out of the pack.

Orangey-copper colour. Woody, fruity, crystal malty aroma with a hint of sweat. Straightforward flavour of dust, woody hop notes, slight lime/berry fruitiness and crystal malts. Light bitterness. Finishes with a slight sweet edge.

Clear amber body with medium short lasting head. Aroma is slightly hoppy. Flavour is slightly bitter and something citrusy. Nice tart finish. Good, but nothing special. I prefer the Cannery IPA.
