2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 vadie (210) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 19, 2012
Un scotch très faible. Pas trop de substance. Je ne sais pas pourquoi c’est un scotch, il est selon moi plutôt une bière blonde foncé bizzare.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gerbeer (857) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2012
650 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy light brown with medium head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of biscuit, malts, and very light smoke. Flavors of peat smoke, light toffee, pitted fruit, and light malt

650ml bottle, dark amber color, with a beige head, mild toasted, bready, biscuity, caramel, smoked malt, toffee nose, with a nutty, cookie dough, french toast accent, and a light dried fruity note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a light smoked, toasted, caramelized, biscuity, bready malt character, with some toffee, caramel candy taffy, fruity dried raisin, french toast, smoked gouda cheese flavours, and with a nutty, bran muffin, subtle flowery leafy hop undertone, leading towards a smokey, caramel, toasty maltiness, faint lingering leafy hop bitterness finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rob6239 (465) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 5, 2012
Pours deep amber with very little head from bottle. Aroma has slight smokiness and slght hoppiness that when combined make for a medicinal aroma. Taste has the smokiness come through better but only mild at front with some malt and the smoke lingers after.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DerWeg (1393) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2012
Gold with a hint or orange or red. Good whiff of peaty smoke and sweetness, taste balanced sweetness and fine noble hop center with nice plays of peat smoke, fruit, light toffee - extremely poised palate. Quaffable and satisfying.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 25, 2012
Bottle, LCBO. Amber pour, huge fluffy white head with orange tints. Dusty malt aroma - really reminded me of a grain silo (don’t asked - I played a lot in grain silo’s on a farm when I was a kid). For that it gets extra points for helping me reconnect with my youth :) . Hint of smoke in there as well. Grainy, smokey taste. A bit sweet, no hint of the warming alcohol I expect in a Scotch Ale. Actually, that smoke really kicks in the the lingering finish - lasts a long time. A bit thin and not complex but better than I was lead to believe - solid brewery from my limited exposure so far.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20 wilderthanyou (668) - Guelph, CANADA - OCT 23, 2012
Was pretty underwhelmed by this one. It’s not bad, it’s just, I really like scotch ales, so I was expecting something more I guess. But the mouth feel was just too thin to really carry across any sort of malty depth. Aroma is sweet, light bit of toasty, and a bit of butter (diacetyl). The flavour is straight up malt, very faint smoke, butter (diacetyl). Has some potential, some would say this is easy drinking, but I feel it’s way to thin to really be a scotch ale. Still, it’s enjoyable.

Pale amber pour, small white head. Light toasted malt, toasted nuts, and quite a bit of peat. Medium carb, and mouthfeel. The finish is quite peaty, smoky, with light malts. Weak. And what is with all this peatiness?
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Spab (1639) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2012
650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear orange/amber with small off-whiteish head. Aroma is toasty, slightly sour peat and grains. Flavour is toasty with a hint of smoke and notes of grains, peat and light caramel. A bit sour. Average body. Alright.

Amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is a little bit toasty with some light chewy malt. A bit of fairly simple malt character through the middle. Slightly smoky but that is very light as well. Lighter palate than I’d like. Lingering sweetness. It’s okay, but very generic.
