For decades the Country Squire was a fine dining restaurant in Naramata. Following its fine example and carrying its name, Squire Scotch Ale is rich in both flavour and tradition. This variety of pale ale is defined by malt flavours that are strong and smoky with a touch of sweetness. The deep caramel colour and gentle hop profile round out this classic style ale.

Bomber from the Blair-sector LCBO in Ottawa, ON. Written "Enjoy before: 010213". Pours a hazy deep amber colour with very intense tiny-bubble carbonation. This creates an off-white, creamy head that lasts forever and real thick lacing around the glass. Sweet and grainy cereal nose with hints of caramel, butterscotch and kind of peaty. Oily mouthfeel and medium-bodied. The taste is pretty smooth with the malt (caramel, grain), the sweetness (butterscotch, sugars), the fruitiness (apples, pears, raisins), the roastiness and a little smokiness in the finish with light hop. Goes down quite nicely for a scotch ale.

650 mL bottle. Nice copper-orange colour, but no head to speak of. Doesnít really smell like a scoth ale; smells kinda generic. Tastes like a generic ale with smoke. Nah.

Bottle 650 ml
sweet malty character , plenty of sugars in there,Woody musky hop elements, slightl creamy notes.
Appearance: gold with hint of amber. Lighter white top.2+
Taste etc.: medium bodied. Somky with dy pit feel, golden malts as backing. Subtle not very deep in developement. Medium lighter carbonation. Good semi lighter smoke till very end. Bit light in body and substance fo Scotch ale.

Smells malty, tastes a little oaky, a little bit of whisky around. Id like to say it tastes like a dirty scotsmans kilt but unforunately it isnít that character heavy, pours reddish orange. Really good head and lacing.

Hazy auburn. Aroma is minerals and raisin/caramel malt. Flavour... tastes like caramelized peat. With emphasis on the first. Less roasty and smokey than others Iíve tried. Which is a shame, to me. But less cloying, as well, which is of course a positive.

Welp, itís well balanced stickiness. It was a bit underwhelming at first but Iím warming up to it as the bottle empties.

650ml bottle pours a reddish brown color with a small white head that settles down to leaves only a few specks of lace. Aroma is caramel with some smokiness and a hint of hops. Taste is caramel malty sweet with some roasted grains and smoke and a light hoppy finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A pretty decent scotch style ale that was definitely appreciated.

gramity (1440) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 7, 2012
Reddish brown colored liquid topped by a short, creamy, off-white head. Foam shrinks, but doesnít disappear altogether, minimal lace. Aroma of sweetish caramel malt, light smokiness, and a touch of dark fruit. Malt flavor to start, sweet caramel, more smoke flavor. Some fruit, and a bit of hop bitterness. Body is rich and full. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. A nice blend, well balanced.

Sweet, rich malt aroma, biscuity, very nice. No hops, nothing off. Lighter colour for the style, great clarity, fairly high carbonation for style, good head retention. Flavour is malt, fairly simple caramel flavour and sweetness coming through. Some light apple or fruity esters. Finish lingers fairly sweet, but not cloying. Overall a good beer for Cannery.

Pours a reddish orange with minimal to no head. Not really picking up the malts in the aroma that I was expecting from a scotch ale. Smooth in mouth, minimal bitter after taste.
