1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 JoeMcPhee (6965) - Toronto, ON, - APR 7, 2007
Thanks to Oakes for sending this one my way. Pale golden beer with a fizzy fast fading white head. Teh arom ais quite woody with dry flinty notes that remind me of some of my early overcarbonated homebrews. Very carbonated as well. A bit of light toast and crackery malts on the nose. Flavour is quite woody and astringent, hops seems muted with a light orange and oxidized character. Meh... not really doing it for me... reminds me of all of the things I didn’t like about BCs beer scene... if you’re going to make a special edition of something, why not make it special. I like the autographed bottle though.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2008
A lightly hazed golden ale with a thin creamy white head. A rather herbal malt with herbaceous hops. In mouth, a surprisingly nice and complex herbal IPA, resinous, with grassy notes, almost belgian. Peppery notes. Light signs of infections. Tasted April 2007. Gift from Capflu.

Comments: Assumingly getting old already, but this had lost some of its hop lust… Almost vegetal yeastiness feels rather old and lacking cleanliness.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 9, 2007
My Bottom Line:
Wet lettuce and cheese bother the juicy oranges emanating from the strained hops in this drinkable and quirky India Pale Ale. Not necessarily disagreeable, but there is no sign of celebration here.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Frothy foam clings to the glass atop the yeast-smeared blond.
-Hops are moderately bitter and salty in the finish.
-This tired hop salad could have been much more fun without its damp garden allusions.
Autographed, unlabeled bottle; no date.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 1, 2007
Bottle. Slightly hazy light amber colour. Bits of floating particulate matter...hope it’s hop! Fairly strong mossy English hop nose, with light caramel malt. Bitterness is medium IBU but low cohumulone. The hops, however, are fairly cheesy (oxidized). A bit of baguette-crust malt stands behind the hop, which takes on a slight astringency by the time it gets to the finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 29, 2006
(650ml bottle) Sold at the brewpub for $5. Now is perhaps a tad more piney than usual. The Flavour indicates that oranges and pine cones collided. The malt base is decent but nothing jumps out and screams "gotcha" as most Anniversary Ales do? Lasting bitterness. Perhaps they added more carbonation than flavour?
