November 13, 2010 - Waterloo tasting with blankboy, jerc, mabel and tupalev. 22oz bottle courtesy of blankboy. Amber, almost gelatinous-looking with a raft of tiny dark suspended particles and an average white fizzy sticky head, even some lacing. Dry lightly fruity and leafy-bitter aroma, no alcohol and a hint of butcher’s paper. Does taste like a bitter, a bit dry and papery, herbal bitterness with a background of apricot marmalade. Solid body, almost harshly astringent, weakly carbonated, with a unwelcome long harsh bitter finish. Not bad, a bit odd, and overly bitter.

My bottle [650ml] shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, jerc & mabel. Pours a clear golden-orange with tons of tiny sediment and an average size frothy off-white head. Aroma of UK hops and the "butterness" I often get from them, along with grain and caramel malt. Slightly watery flavour of UK hops, caramel malt and a touch of spices in the finish. Average bodied. Not great, just good.

[3466-20101113] Bottle. Odd herbal notes and mild earth in the aroma. Slightly hazy, bright orange brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head and lots of small floaties. Lightly skunked flavour has a light honeycomb toast throughout. Medium body. Fair.

2010-11-13. Nice amber body, small off-white head with some floaties. Mild aroma, muted malt, hints of caramel, touch of buttery hints. 6+ Flavour is similar, mild bitterness, sweet caramel/buttery notes that I do not think are diacetyl but could be. Mild fruity notes throughout. 6+ Smooth average palate. Okay, but does not make me want more of it. Bottle shared by Blankboy

7/14/07 On draught at the brewery. Aroma is caramel forward balance with a low earthy hop character. Appearance is light copper with a good white head. Flavor is well balanced, with sweet malt forward followed by medium bittering and a slight resiny finish. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with a moderate carb texture. Overall, this is similar to Redhook ESB, with a more English than American hop character.
