3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, - JAN 9, 2012
Cask - The Foundry, Canterbury. Poured a clear darkish amber colour with a small creamy off-white to beige head on top. Good retention, uniform lacework. Bright & crisp citrus aromas & juicy mid fruits. Lovely pithy, zesty lemon & grapefruit on the tongue. Some nuttiness in the aftertaste. Light to medium sweetish biscuity malt body, soft mouthfeel, lingering grapefruity, resinous finish. In top condition as you’d expect at a brewpub. Firm & chewy, quite juicy in the mouth before the bitterness kicks in. Drinkable, despite quite a heavy bitterness, flavourful & surprisingly rounded on the palate given the hop onslaught. Makes me quite envious that The Foundry opened a year after I graduated from Canterbury.

Clear medium amber colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, nutty, fruity, earthy. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20111230]

Cask handpull at the Foundry Brewpub. Clear copper amber colour with lasting thin near white head. Aroma of tropical fruits but some sweetness too. Flavour is mostly a butter with very miderate tropical fruit and then pretty bitter on the finish. Fine but still mostly a fairly harsh bitter than a delicious tropical fruit odyssey

Cask (gravity dispense) at Egham Beer Festival on 18 August 2011. Amber colour. Cloudy, a bit murky in fact. Pleasant hoppy notes on the nose. Tropical fruit evident - mango and lychee with a twist of citrus. Firm and hoppy on the palate with a distinct lemony edge. Extremely bitter. Mouthfeel is a touch thin though. Promising, if a little rough round the edges.
