ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 4, 2008 Bottle (75 cl) from Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. Shady deep golden, tiny head. Cidery aroma with green and yellow apples, grapefruit, and some other soft tropical fruits (perhaps from the cognac), and finally some wood. A bit too sour for my liking, as usual with Cantillion. radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2008 Murky golden yellow in colour with a thin quickly dissipating white coloured head, light lacing. The aroma has some light barnyard, leather with a bit of sweetness at times, some wood. The flavour had some apples, was sour and acidic but all the while a bit mild for a Cantillon, some tropical fruits, lightly sweet. MIld mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. A toned down finishes with a mild tartness.
Tame by Cantillon standers, the barrel aging might have had something to do with this. A very easy drinking Gueuze but I still prefer my Cantillons with a bit more oomph.
750ml bottle obtained in a trade with miketd, thanks Mike.

Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Aug 26, 2008 Golden appearance with no head. Woody, funky, with a really slight cognac feature. I found it a bit harsh swallowing, not my best Cantillon bottle. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Tart aroma with some summer fruit and some brandy/cognac showing through. Tart flavor with some oak, light brandy/cognac, and light lemon. Medium body. Very complex. Tartness lingers. Doesn’t seem as sour as other Cantillons. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 (sampled @ rbsg)fairly dry and sour as with most cantillons.with a slight fruit background. TBone (6678), Pori, Finland Aug 8, 2008 Bottled 75 cl, bottling 30.3.2007
Mainly clear orange-yellow color, no head. Tropical fruits/apricot/peach and light tartness in the nose - not really cognac found here, but clearly unusual aroma for Cantillon gueuze. At first mouthfeel feels quite flat, but later there is some fizzyness. Not as tart as many Cantillons but very fruity and more complex than ordinary geuze: apricot, leather and some tropical fruits. Also some odd notes, propably from oak. Lingering fruity sourness in the aftertaste. Very unique and interesting, although not my favourite of Cantillons. I couldn’t spot any obvious cognac-flavors. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 Sample from Toncatcher at RBSG; Thanks! Nose is tartness, funkiness, with some light fruit notes; orange with very few white bubbles; flavor has sourness, light fruity apricot notes, and yeast; finish is sour! nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2008 Updated: Mar 17, 2009Bottle shared by miketd. Orange pour with a quickly fading fizzy white head. Aroma of fresh fruits, peaches, light wood and pale malt. Even flavors of sour, peach, vinous fruits, wood, light yeast and barnyard. Light body, sour, with a sour dry finish. Fantastic brew!
