Commercial Description:
In March 2005, the brewery Cantillon had bought second hands barrels in the region of Cognac. For 15 years, the wood had been impregnate with cognac. Then for 2 years, our lambic has extracted all the flavors and aromas to make a unique gueuze. The name comes from the geographic location of the brewery.

Mainly clear orange-yellow color, no head. Tropical fruits/apricot/peach and light tartness in the nose - not really cognac found here, but clearly unusual aroma for Cantillon gueuze. At first mouthfeel feels quite flat, but later there is some fizzyness. Not as tart as many Cantillons but very fruity and more complex than ordinary geuze: apricot, leather and some tropical fruits. Also some odd notes, propably from oak. Lingering fruity sourness in the aftertaste. Very unique and interesting, although not my favourite of Cantillons. I couldn’t spot any obvious cognac-flavors.

Sample from Toncatcher at RBSG; Thanks! Nose is tartness, funkiness, with some light fruit notes; orange with very few white bubbles; flavor has sourness, light fruity apricot notes, and yeast; finish is sour!

Bottle shared by miketd. Orange pour with a quickly fading fizzy white head. Aroma of fresh fruits, peaches, light wood and pale malt. Even flavors of sour, peach, vinous fruits, wood, light yeast and barnyard. Light body, sour, with a sour dry finish. Fantastic brew!

Much thanks to Miver for this bottle. Pours out an interesting golden/orange/yellow color with a thin bubbly head. Aroma is sour and vinous with some earthy notes. Taste is very complex, nice sourness with some grape, yeast and slight earthiness with a fruity balance in the background. Very good

Bottle at RBSG grand tasting. Thanks to Toncatcher who brought this. Pours a bubbly yellow gold color with minimal head. The aroma was light with tropical fruits, dust and wood. The taste was oaky and sweet with lingering sweet and sour fruits. The mouthfeel was light but satisfying. The finish was long and tart. Overall: A well crafted gueuze that is worth seeking out.

[1304-20080418] 750mL bottle. Toasted sour yeast aroma with sweet candy tones and light earth. Slightly hazy, light brown orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Sour toasted yeast flavour with a nice sour woody note. Medium body is sour. Quite nice! Could have even more sourness or acidity but its drinkable and good as is.

Golden pour with a steady continuance of small bubbles to create a small white lid of bubbles. Signature Cantillon scent from the first pop of the cork. Sweet wheat, mild lemon zest, white grape, and a little attic dust in the scents. Hints of brandy do come out as it rests. Certainly not a sour monster as so many of the Cantillons are. Actually the more I try, it is there but masked by more sweetness. Dry malt and caramel start. LIght tartness in the middle that picks up steam all the way through to the finish and linger. I catch cognac early, but it does seem to fad. A bit watery at times. I like it, but it does not seem to have the depth of some of the others.
