DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 15, 2008 2007 Bottle. Some beer leaked around the cork and rusted the cap. Hazy orange body under a small foamy white head. Sweat, fermented apple, and tart acidic/lactic acid. The flavor trends towards the bitter/funky grapefruit rind end of the lambic spectrum. Notably bitter, perhaps the most "hoppy" of any gueuze I’ve tried. Finishes with more bitter grapefruit. I don’t detect much in the way of cognac but this is still a pretty good gueuze. I’ve had one in the cellar for a while but thought tonight might be a nice night to break this out and chill out some with a yummy gueze. Pours a very nice orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sour and tart with all kinds of Guezey funk. Right now its probably too cold but for the second pour i’m sure it’ll warm up well. Taste is sour and full of funk, definetly some citrus in here some lemon and other fruit. Tons of oak and the cognac is here too. I love this brewery and they never ever dissapoint. thewolf (5633), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottle @ the RBESG08 Grand Tasting.

Pours hazy yellow with a small, staying, white, creamy head. Impressive looks for a lambic. Aroma is tart, some oak, lemons, citric acid, overripe apples. Medium carbonation, easily drinkable. Pleasant flavour, good tartness, citric, apples, oak and subdued notes of caramel. Wonderful. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Jul 11, 2008 Bottle at RBESG08 ... Golden orange ... sour woody nose ... again alambic and since its not my thing i dont get the subtlties. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle from Liquor Outlet split two ways. Hazy goldcen in color with a big white head. Aroma: Nice and sour and funky- lots of tart citrus, horseblanket/sweaty socks, touches of light sweet pale malts, oak. Taste isn’t quite as sour as intense as some Cantillons I’ve had, but was very enjoyable. Alot of tart fruit: lemon rind, light tart grapefruit, sourness was moderate, with some light sweet fruits, oak, cognac, and a touch of alcohol. Really good as I had expected. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 8, 2008 (Bottle at GT - RBESG 2008) June 29, 2008 Shady yellow color, white head. Delisious sour scent. Sour, a bit thin and metallic, taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Bottle 2007 opened during 4th of July weekend: Beautiful glowing deep orange color, hazy appearance with a creamy off white ring of head. Very nice color. Aroma has that standard Cantillon funk of sharp and aged cheese, lemon juice, acetic notes, and mild cask character.Crisp body. Not very sour, but it’s sharp and has a nice acidity. Funky notes of old cheese and horse blanket. Also has a mild vanilla hint in the background as it warms- (maybe from the Cognac barrel), which meshes well with the fruity acidity- making it reminiscent of sour lemon cake. Finish gives off some residual oak tannins and tartness. Well integrated, complex and unique. Another beauty by Cantillon. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 6, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, golden body with nothing you’d call a head beyond a few meandering bubbles.
Smell: Aroma smelling of grapes, mold-covered melons, fresh homespun cotton sheets, and a reasonable, responsible level of funkiness.
Taste: Slight, slight wheatiness and a drying woody oak character. A drip of citric acid. Fair amount of must. Sour melon and grape juices. Distinct taste of cognac. Jarring hit of lactic sourness. Brett-laden, dry finish that leaves you pulling the cobwebs off your tongue.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Very mild carbonation.
Drinkability: I feel I could go either way on this one. Fairly smooth with a nice display of complexities, I’ll be sure to revisit this one later on.
