Vintage 2012. Tart and sour with blueberry seeds and a deep almost murky fruitiness and a slight bitter twist at the end. Hyped, yes. great beer, even more so.

Bottle. 2013 vintage. Good funky aroma, light fruity notes, though I couldn’t tell it was blueberry. Big funky notes. Horse blanket. Color was nice - a dirty pinky color. Flavor is over the top funk, a hint of fruit, and more funk. Very overpowering funk. It was good to try once but not worth going through the trouble to obtain again.

Have sampled many Blåbær vintages over the years, fresh and aged, adhering to the old adage "fresh is best" seems to bode well most times. However, with the 2009 II, it seems age has done quite well having sampled at least yearly since and seeing an upward trajectory in terms of taste. 2010 and 11 were great fresh, and 12 was very fruity and had a welcome earthy presence. 2013 has largely been a disappointment, too much earthiness/dirt and needs perhaps a while to figure itself out. Another example of a fruit lambic where vintage makes a vast difference in terms of overall experience.

I don’t see how this helps to promote lambic. I see that it helps to promote you, but that’s not enough for me.

28/II/14 - 37.5cl bottle @ home - 2011 vintage BB: n/a (2014-230) Thanks to Yespr for the bottle!

Clear deep ruby red beer, big fizzy light pink head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty dirty, unpleasant smell, just a little fruity, sourish. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, very sour, funky notes, bit dirty, blueberries, tannins, sour. Aftertaste: fruity touch, bitter grape skin (probably blueberry skin then), very sour, little fruity.

Bottle from Olbutikken, shared with Hypo Luxa & a few other buddies to commemorate his leaving Japan. Best of luck in the US! Drunk from a Mikkeller tulip glass. A luscious grape red with a thick pink head. Sour blueberry, tart, musty & light fruit aroma. Incredibly tart, bitter sour with a blueberry skin flavor & Brian felt the blueberry stems caused the bitterness. It starts off sweet & tart then gets pithy, slightly bitter in the finish. This is a VERY smooth beer with a clean flavor progression. It is great but I feel it’d be better in a few years.

Bottle 2013. Bright pink, grape head. Peach, grape, cherries, a little funk, Mandarin orange juice in the can. Taste is very tart, no sweetness. Bitterness is from the stem. Needs more time to bring the tartness down. A good beer, would like to try earlier batches.

750 ml bottle poured into a Cantillon glass thanks to Papso. 2012 batch. Pours a clear purple with a pink head of foam. The aroma has funky, dry, winey, bleu cheese, and berries. The taste is a little oxidized. Some cardboard and a bit of berry tartness. Light to medium body with medium to high carbonation.
