| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2010 2009 bottle. Pours a deep, opaque blood red with a really pretty cotton candy, rosy head that settled into a soapy haze. So pretty. Tart and acidic on the nose. Has a soft element that I really liken to 3 Fonteinen Hommage at about 1 year. Soft blueberries and raspberries. Pretty meaty. Soft and quite well integrated in the mouth. Deep blueberry skins and stems abound. A little foresty, pretty wild, quite rich. Brett isn’t huge though it’s quite sour and funky. Oak and soft acids are in the forefront along with the sour wild blueberries. Really enjoyable. shawnm213 (1039), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Bottle from bbb63- BIG THANKS. Second batch of 2009. Relatively new. pours a violet with a pink head. leaves a pink ring around the glass. This is one of the most pleasantly funky beers I’ve had. Blueberry with a horseblanket, fresh washed stinky sock aroma, vacumn cleaner dust, fruit. Really nice. Impressed. Flavor is a slightly tart blueberry, bready earthy funk. Not overly funky or acidic, but very well balanced and approachable. I would like some more sourness and funk, but there is no doubting that this is a well made beer. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 26, 2009 375ml Bottle Pours out a deep maroon with some purple highs. Topped with a small head. Aroma of blueberry along with plenty of the tartness, a little funk, vanilla, and some oak. Flavor is more of the tart and sour blueberries along with some light sweetness. Thanks a ton Sam your the man. I never thought I would get to try this. uhre (343), Denmark
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Aroma is sour, but at the same time you can smell the berries. Taste is sour as well not a very good beer and highly overrated in my opinion. brewolf (51), Washington, USA
| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Dec 10, 2009 Pours a deep, jammy, garnet-tinged violet. The head is thin, ultra-fine, and bright mauve in hue. Huge barnyard funk on the nose, along with tart black current, and a sweet hint of blueberry. Flavor compliments the nose, amplifies the funk, adds loganberry and woody notes. The mouthfeel is smooth; but finishes sharp, tart, and dry. The most amazingly balanced fruit/funk brew I have had the privilege to enjoy. Sean9689 (52), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Huge thanks to Alex (MasterSki) for opening this one at our wild/sour tasting. 2009 Batch 4, poured from 375ml bottle into Bell’s Tulip.
A - Pours purple/dark blue with a pink fluffy head. Lots of sticky lacing is left behind once the head dies down a bit. The look of this beer is unlike anything I’ve ever seen...something to be seen, no doubt about it!
S - Blueberry funk/tart, mellow sweetness, and light acidic notes. It’s hard to put into words the perfection of this blueberry lambic, so pardon me if I just comment how awesome it is by saying, "it’s awesome".
T - Well, what do you think it tastes like? Uh...blueberries? Yeah, I’d say so. Sweet blueberries, sour blueberries, funky blueberries. However you’d like your blueberries, this lambic dishes it out. A nice acidic bite but nothing too strong. This one stays pretty mellow when compared to the nose.
M - Light, nice fizzy carbonation that cover the palate well. This is a great beer to swish around on your mouth and enjoy slowly. A nice rich finish, that I really enjoy.
D - So easy to drink, I already want another all to myself! BrotherGrendel (612), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Batch 2 bottle at PP Carlsbad. Murky amber tiny hue with a thin smattering of white foam. Nose is big blueberry with acidic tartness, light funk and vanilla, oaky wood. Flavor is tart and sour blueberries and other light fruits, uber tartness dominates, light bitterness, finishes dry. Medium body/ carbonation, prickly texture. A top line sour blueberry ale, all around solid flavor even though the sourness drowns out the blueberry near the end. Violet pink foamy head.
Sour, dry, fruity aroma.
Initially just sour, in a pleasent limited way, then the blue berry sets in. Symphonic. Ends in sweet distinct berry.
Medium body, fizzy.
Very nice. However, after a few sips the sourness kills the blueberry taste.
Medium body, fizzy.
