JorisPPattyn (4514), Antwerpen, Belgium Feb 23, 2003 One of the last 1999 bottles at the brewery - an exceptional, JP Van Roy says. He isn't far wrong. Golden colour, no head (3 yr. old lambic!). Nose of aged oak wood, of old leatherbound books in an antiquariat and of wild mushrooms. taste gives more wood, tannines, unbelievable but there is some unfermented thing underneath and sherrywood casks. The finish is made up by all the volatiles from the above retreating. A dream of a beer...
MrChopin (207), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 2007 bottle. Pours a tepid golden amber, no head but a few bubbles in ring, dull body. Pretty unappealing. Sour nose of must and sweat, slight cheese, and faint lemon. Tart flavor is musty lemon, a little earth, and a nice grape sweetness as a balance. With warmth additional flavors unfold for a tart and biting yet sweet and refreshing combination. Mouth is dry and thin, a little watery, and short-lived, the grape lasting longest. Very nice beer, but too weak in certain areas to warrant undying affection. Guerde (491), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Sep 22, 2008 (bottle, vintage 2003, thanks JK!) Pours a still, cloudy gold. Aroma contains a lot of cut grass, oak, yeast, and salty, funky cheese. The taste is lightly sour, with some funky cheese, lemon, but becomes far more salty towards the finish which I did not really care for. thewolf (3983), Kolding, Denmark Sep 20, 2008 Bottle, bought in Ølbutikken, Cph.<br />

Pours hazy orange-yellow with no head. Aroma is fruity, funky, some egg-notes amongst apples and oranges. Very low carbonation, wonderful dry mouthfeel. Pleasantly tart flavour, lots of apple fruitiness, vanilla, lots of oak, barnyeard and hay. Super, dry finish. travita (762), Lewisville, Texas, USA Sep 15, 2008 No head or carbonation to speak of. Orange like color. Very clear. Very champagne like. Smell is tart, fruity, sour, and a little funk. Taste is sour and makes you want more. Very dry. 502Flavors (283), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 10, 2008 January 2007 vintage 750 ml. into wine glass. Hazy orange no head (no carbonation) but some white froth swirling on surface. Aroma is nice and champagne like - white grapes, yeast, natural alcohol, sourness - not that complex to my nose, but nice and tempting. Flavor is good and way more balanced and smooth than my previous (and first) sour - Marriage parfait. Sweet on front with nice sour follow through that lingers but not in a puckering way but a unique way I cant really explain (kind of takes over your mouth). Thin to medium body - great on palate for me since I am not a huge carbonation fan... this thing is nearly flat. Overall: great style when done like this.
