4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 omhper (17556) - Stockholm, - JUL 8, 2009Bottled at PBF. Lightly hazy golden, almost no head. Lots of sweaty stale hops to go with the horseblanket and vinegar up front. Acidic and very dry of course, fresh and vital with notes of oak and lemon juice. Typical Cantillon beer. There is nothing here I don’t love. The complexity paired with the enormous refreshing qualities of gueuze.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 PhillyCraft (2110) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 9, 2013
Bottle generously cracked by James Daddy. Thanks meh. Hazy yellow gold appearance, with a medium off white head. Notes were puckery tart skin, complex wood, grapes, shellfish, funk, ocean, lemon, and barn. Light refreshing body that dances around the mouth with average carbonation. Bourdeaux was more evident then the cognac. Exceptional gueuze.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Aniela (1851) - Skövde, SWEDEN - JUN 9, 2013
Bottle. Yellow hazy beer with a small offwhite head. Citrus, sourish, rubber, spicy aroma with some vinegar notes. Citrus, sourish, tart and grapes flavour.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 mcberko (4145) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle at DHVL, pours a hazy bright orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out wonderful funky barnyard notes, a little bit of a vinous quality, and some grape skins -- also maybe a hint of cognac but it’s not prominent -- very complex aromatics with many layers. Flavour is remarkably complex with many layers -- bringing out notes of cognac, moderate barnyard funk, and some dried grape skins. So many layers to this. Medium-to-lively carbonation, which brings out the many deep layers of this perfectly. Finishes on light vinous and cognac notes, with a medium acidity. Rarity aside, this is a pleasure to drink. One of the most complex gueuzes I’ve had and certainly the best I’ve had from Cantillon. A true masterpiece.

Pours hazy pale yellow with a big white head. Nose is intense lemon, vinegar, pepper, barnyard funk. Taste is intense tart with great bitter balance. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, light body and long finish.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hopdog (7732) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2012
750ml bottle (thanks Ryan for saving this to share with me!). Poured a medium golden color with an averaged sized off white head. Citrus, some wood, earthy funkiness, and some grapes. I would not have guessed cognac, as I didn’t get any in either the aromas or tastes. Nice and ’softer’ all the way around (not an ’in our face’ Gueuze, but one I could drink all day long).

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 arrogantb (1398) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2012
750ml bottle courtesy of one of you gentleman traders and poured into Zwanze day tulips that my cuz picked up. Choice. Appearance is identical to Cantillon gueuze, orange, good foamy head, bubbly. Aroma is real close to Cantillon Classic gueuze and I’d be hard pressed to find the difference, moldy orange and lemon rind, slight funk. The flavor was also very close to the classic, acidic, lemony, not much brett or farmy qualities. I did not taste any trace of cognac barrel. I will say that this is a lot smoother than a one or two year old bottle of classic gueze but this didn’t really feel like a special ’llon more like a select blend which I guess makes it special but it was still just Cantillon gueuze to me. I wouldn’t go out of my way to acquire any more of this since the classic is just as good if not better at times. Also the price and availability of this is ridiculous.

Pours a hazy and amber beer with a white head. The aroma is spices, tart and oak. The flavor follows the nose with additional grapefruit. The palate is dry with bitterness. Overall a really good and complex beer.
