yngwie (3762), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 30, 2008 Bottle, 75cl corked, at Plan B in Copenhagen. A slightly hazy golden beer with an orange tint. Some carbonation and a minimal white head. Funky, barnyardish nose wth citrusy acidity and some orange. Funky, barnyardish and citric flavor too, with some lemon and orange and an orange peel-like bitterness. Astringent and sour in the mouth with some carbonation. Medium full. Fine bitterness to compete with the sourness in the finish. Really easy to drink, especially considering it’s a Cantillon beer. Quenching and moreish. (080913) Travlr (115), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 29, 2008 Available on draught at the Bier Circus in Brussels as their house beer. Cloudy yellow/orange appearance with scant white head. Aroma of grapefruit and wet horseblanket. Typical Cantillon sour taste, but with more with lemon and grapefruit. Nice dry finish. This and the Girardin Faro are two good reasons to try this bar if you’re in Brussels. jake65 (1326), Meridian, Idaho, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Glowing golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma is soft and mellow, but rich. Taste is so balanced it blends together in a sweet and tart medley. Good balance of oak barrel. Indeed this is amazingly smooth. Nice finish of lingering tartness. Superb. DrHomolka (626), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours pale golden color with a pretty darn big white head. Probably the biggest head with the best retention I’ve seen within this style. Aroma blasts with huge barnyard notes. A bunch of farmy goodness, overwhelming Brett, horsey, hay, cobweb. Also present is an intense phenolic character that is more reminiscent of Fantome than traditional Lambic, but it is a welcome addition. Huge complexity in the nose. Taste is brightly, intensely sour, nice acidity, bone dry. This is pretty damn amazing. I certainly can’t think of a Geueze I’ve had that is this good. Sometimes examples of this style kind of blend together and all taste the same albeit good. This one manages to hit all the classic notes but add an interesting twist. Remarkable. bhensonb (3138), Woodland, California, USA Oct 18, 2008 Bottle shared by Marcus. Color is orange tinged gold with a fine off-white head. Aroma is slightly citrus sour over mild light stone fruits. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is citrus, a bit sour like rind, and imaginable funk. A bit puckery. Finish is astringent and lightly fruity. After a long time it’s like grapefruit (flavor not hop).
