Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 3, 2008 Courtesy mgumby10....thanks Mike! Pours a hazy tangerine yellow color with a small, fizzy, bubbly white head. Jagged columns of lacing protrude from the body like solar flares do from the sun. First sniff.....WHOA! This smells fantastic! Strong notes of sour apricots and nectarines, two of my favorite fruits, explode into the nose. Fresh squeezed grapefruit, mild farmhouse funk, and lightly sweet candy sugar complete the aroma. The first sip stands behind the promise that the nose makes.....this thing tastes great. Funky as hell, sour, tart apricots and nectarines dominate again. Grapefruit is present again, playing more of a background role. Mouth puckering, but not as extreme as some other Cantillons. Balanced perfectly for my palate. Moderate carbonation levels match the dry, medium body perfectly. This is a mind-blowing beer. Second only to Kaggen (amongst dozens of incredible beers) at the infamous Merritt Island Throwdown, March 2008. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (3/11/08) Bottle at Bier Circus in Brussels as Cuvée du 89. Slightly hazy golden with a medium frothy white head. Aroma of barnyard. Citrusy, dry, sour flavor with soft bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied. This is really good. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 31, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy mgumby10. Pours a hazy mango color, with creamy white highlights. Watery white head sits atop this gueze well. Nice sheets of lacing remain on the glass. Strength in the nose is the tartness, with a backbone of grapefruit and hops. Enjoying this combo. Big tartness flavor, with awesome barnyard qualities. Wheaty. The hops come in at the end, with a grapefruit finish. Easy as hell to drink, very well balanced. Hoppiness is refreshing in this one. Definitely liked the dry-hopping in this one. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Mar 30, 2008 Courtesy Mgumby10. Vintage 06. Pours a golden cloudy color. Aroma is mostly apple. Tastes of sour light fruits, with some funk yeast taste. Palate is refreshing with a sour kick. Thanks Mike. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Mar 29, 2008 Tasted at the February Northern California Beer Tasting. This lambic pours a deep yellow gold color. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is lemon, sour, funk, must and a touch of sweetness. A medium bodied lambic. WOW. There is a lot of funk and a lot of sourness in this beer. Lively carbonation. It very very dry. Yet the acidity doesn’t seem that bad. Tart, maybe that’s the word for it, and then there is the funk. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Mar 7, 2008 Bottled at Beer Circus, Brussels.
Hazy golden with a white head.
Really sour aroma; rubber mattress...
Soft palate but still very sour. Prett bitter. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Mar 5, 2008 3rd Annual Woodshop Tasting, 3/1/08. Thanks Chris! Grapefruity, zesty lemon - tart forward. Good amount of lingering funk. Nice and drinkable - but powerful. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Feb 5, 2008 Rating # 1300. Bottle from Biercircus as Cuvee du 89’. Bottle 37,5cl - vintage 2004. Pours hazy orange with a fine egg white head. Sprinkly & fizzy but quite lasting. Aroma & taste is sour, fruity, vinegar, white wine - vinous, tart & wood.
