Commercial Description:
A new brew concocted by Jean Van Roy to celebrate the 2003-2004 Division III title for the local Union St. Gilles football team and its upgrade to Division II.

Cuvee des Champions is not a traditional 'gueuze,' in that it is made from only two year-old 2001 lambic, not from a blend of older and younger lambics. It is also dry-hopped in the cask for three weeks with fresh Styrian Goldings hops. Re-fermentation in the bottle is achieved with the addition of a small amount of candi sugar.

Hazy pale yellow, almost no head. Yeasty, sourish nose with some citrus. Refreshing, somewhat salty, yeasty & sour flavour with hints of green apples. Has an aged feeling in flavour.

Pale yellow, hazy, not much head. Typical sour, dry Cantillon nose. Very bitter for a lambic, double amount of hops is used here. Double IPA with lambic one would say.

Thanks Fly for this gem. It is a hazy golden/orange color. The aroma is funky, acetic, and sour. The flavor is definitely sour with some mineral notes. It got a bit better as it warmed. Another delicious product from Cantillon. Wow.

Bottle at GBBF 05 - with thanks to Duff and Mullet!! Opaque, flat orange. Nice, smooth, sour, mushy fruit. Smooth, gluey finish, with a fragrant zestiness at the end. Tastes vintage and has some class.

Bottle. Thanks be to mullet. Typical Cantillon, juicy and citric, but perhaps a little more subdued than most. Lemony with a woody sour bitter finish. Extrememly refreshing. A nice smelly hardcore lambic. I very much liked this little number.

Bottle, thanks joeh. Smells like its going to be bone dry and sure enough it is, very dry. Very dry aciditc sourness. Really takes all the saliva out of your tongue. Typical smelly lambic, barnyard, horse blanket etc. Lemony and dry. Bitter/sour.

Bottled - drank at GBBF 2005 courtesy of duff via Mullet. Thanks guys!. Easily my favourite Cantillon yet. It is so easy to drink yet still has all those funky barnyard cheesy characters you expect from a Cantillon. It is hazy yellow in colour and everything about it is inviting and refreshing. So easy to drink, so balaced, no nasty bum burning acidity. Just really good stuff. I clearly prefer my unblendeds to my gueuzes. Postscript - it’s now be reclassified as a gueuze - Oh well!. Score 4.4

Bottled at The London/Joet Gathering Chez Chris_O. A hazy peach coloured beer with no head. The aroma is sour and farmyard with some egginess. The taste is funky and sour with lambic burn tastes. It’s OK but a bit challenging and uninviting. Score: 3.1

Bottle at GBBF Cloudy gold lambic. Good oaky nose and the sourness in the mouth with the citric acidity is pretty intense. Best straight lambic I have had so far. Drinking this after all those heavy American IPAs is just so refreshing.
