Commercial Description:
A new brew concocted by Jean Van Roy to celebrate the 2003-2004 Division III title for the local Union St. Gilles football team and its upgrade to Division II.

Cuvee des Champions is not a traditional 'gueuze,' in that it is made from only two year-old 2001 lambic, not from a blend of older and younger lambics. It is also dry-hopped in the cask for three weeks with fresh Styrian Goldings hops. Re-fermentation in the bottle is achieved with the addition of a small amount of candi sugar.

Capped and corked 750. Pours hazy gold with a thick but falling head. Aroma of lemon, fruit, grass. Light body and moderate carbonation. Lemony taste of orange rinds, cork, barnyard, oak. Sour dry finish. I’m left with the taste impression of chewing on a cork that has been marinating in lemonade for a rather long time.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy deep lemony yellow with no head. Big funk, tart citrus peel, very very faint herbal hop notes in the background. Lots of tart citrus and underlying funk dominating this brew. Finishes very tart and dry on the palate.

Bottle (duff, cheers mate!): Cloudy gold in colour. Mild funky nose with loads of fruit. Subdued fruity flavour with mild cheese. Suprisingly not over acidic. Full bodied and quite smooth. Really tasty stuff!!

Grassy aroma at first with rotting hay and funky cheese coming through. Hazy gold with a small white head. Sweet sugary start, yet so dry in the finish. Very very dry. Slightly hoppy aftertaste. Interesting.

Hazed orange, big bubbled halo. Cheesy aroma with matchtick and sulfur and must in the nose? or is that coming from the grill? Damn it. Flavors are too damn tame and uncomplex..though I suppose its a clean beer. Gueuze’s are boring me..I need fruit lambics to be happy these days..or maybe unblended lambics.

Golden in color with a slight haze and a medium white head. Hoppy aroma which I found really unusual for a lambic, with mild acidity.Citrus hops, bitter yet sour. One of Cantillon’s most interesting offerings.

Bottle: Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma, funky and sour, some lemon grass, and yeast. Flavor, some light apples, lemon, sour and funky, nice and smooth though. Really nice beer.

Bottled 2008 version. Clear dark gold with a thin but persistent head. Funky tart aromas of cherry, lemon with dry hay and dried drift wood. Mildly tart sour with a prickly mouthfeel throughout. Nice dry wood, tart wheat malt flavors with dry lemon and cherry. Has just a mild aspirin burn in the finish. Very good gueuze.

Lighlty golden / hazy. Bitter and sour at best, could say vinagry. A nice Geuze, distinct taste, funky.
