Alengrin (1743) - BELGIUM - AUG 18, 2014
Classic Cantillon fruit lambic, with real Bergeron apricots to which the label playfully refers; yellowish and hazy robe, powerful aroma with all the Cantillon funkiness one can expect, very fruity from esters as well as apricots, barnyard, sherry, sweat, sour cream, taste very Cantillon - in other words, lots of ’neige’ citric acid, lots of lactic acid, lots of funkiness, uncompromisinly sour yet very complex, woody, very dry, with the apricots shining through nicely. One of their many masterpieces.

Sample@Quintessence 2014.

Rusty Orange. Strong funky aroma - tart, fruity. Taste is lots of funk, sour, slight vinegar, oak, with a nice apricot tang. Unreal

Pale gold colored beer with a little head. Aromas of apricots and salt. Taste is very sour and salty, but while warming up turns over to a subtile sweet apricot tastes.

Bottle thanks to northernbrews for sharing. Aug 2013 bottling. Very cloudy, pale yellow-orange pour with a small foamy head that fades very slowly. Aroma is pretty funky with lots of yogurt, damp basement, and citrus-y fruit. Taste starts with a bunch of sour, acidic citrus fruit. Doesn’t really taste like apricots but it’s definitely citrus-y. Lots of oak and some vinegar too. Sourness is moderate, strong tart finish. Love the soft but fizzy carbonation. Really good beer but I thought I was gonna like this more than I did since it’s a favorite for a few of my friends.
