Tried this twice in the last 2 months, another great tasting beer from Cantillon. Tart and funky aroma, with a bit of fruit, more fruit in the taste with a little hint of red vinegar. Love the look and taste of this beer, will be on the lookout again.

750ml corked bottle pours a golden orangeish color with about 2 fingers of white head that leaves some spots of lacing behind. Aroma is a mild fruitiness. Taste is quite tart and dry apricot with a sour finish. Light to medium body and adequate carbonation. A decent lambic ale at best.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2012 Bottle shared by birchstick- thanks, Jon! Bottled 8/18/11. Pours a pale, somewhat hazy yellow-gold with a small white head that rides it all the way down. Aroma of lemon, white grape skins, not-quite-ripe peaches, yogurt, and dusty funk. Flavor of sour lemon, peaches, and apricots, vinegar, musty funk, and yogurt. Light-medium bodied, with a sour, dry mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lovely and tasty. Re-Rate, STLWill’s 30th birthday party. 2001 vs. 2011. Not much to add to my 2011 rating except there was a lot more apricot in it than I remembered. The 2001 doesn’t have so much of that apricot, but more of the sour, tart, funky punch to it. The 2011 is more crisp, carbonated, herbal- I also found it more complex and fun to drink, but just by a little.

Pours a cloudy light peach color with a fluffy bubbly head. The nose is wonderful, lots of a fresh earthy mushroom, lambic funk, touch of leathery brett, notes of dry oak, strong peach and appricot sweetness in the back. The taste is great, very funky, earthy mushroom funk, a touch sweaty, bright peach and appricot flavors with a faint sourness in the finish. Medium body with a lively carbonation and silky smooth on the palate with a rather dry finish.

An orange-hued pour with an ample head. The head is white and falls fairly quickly. Lacing is present. Huge aroma of apricot/peach. Had this one fresh a month ago and it was even more apricot scented. It fades quick. Funk and earthy. Tart and sweet mouthfeel. The apricot flavor is still there, but when fresh it tastes like apricot juice. Of course, that is mixed with the funky flavor that is present in all the Cantillon line. Not sure what to make of the age on this. I like it fresh, but it does still taste good with some age. The couple year old one I had did not really have any apricot flavor or aroma left in it. But the freshest one I had was really good too. Oh well, still an excellent beer.

750 ml bottle bought @ Ølbutikken. 2011 vintage. Shared and consumed on November 18. Pours hazy golden orange with a fluffy white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is sour and fruity with apricot, grapefruit, hay, leather, green apples and yeasty funk. Taste is dry, sour and slightly sweet with tons of apricots. There’s also some orange zest, sweet red apples, stomach acid (in a good way), leather and yeast. Finish is dry, slightly sour with leather and funk. Very nice but in retrospect I think I should have cellared this for a year or two.

Huge thanks to PaulUnwin for sharing this one. I appreciate your generosity. Pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Nose is apricot, peach, funk, vinegar, pepper, salt, and a hint of crushed aspirin with bits of citrus hops. Flavor is similar with fruit all over- apricot, peach, and vinegary citrus with funk. Light to medium in body and overall a symphonic beer.

11/11/11. 2010 750mL courtesy GT2! Very cloudy apricot colored pour with a frothy off-white pour that cuts but sticks and laces plenty. Funky, fruity aroma with a bit of apricot, acid, and wood. Huge tart flavor with acid, wood, more tartness, a touch of peachy fruitiness, and more tartness. Holy tartness, Batman! Good stuff!
