The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steebo on February 13. The pour from this 750 mL bottle is a hazy golden yellow color with a smaller white head. The aroma is pretty damn good. There is a lot of sour, Brett, and some lemon or citrus on the back end. The flavor is much of the same. It’s really sharp and tart with some grapes in there with the lemon. I am also picking up some apple peel. The mouth feel is a little light, and the carbonation doesn’t seem like it’s up there as high as it should be. The aftertaste is lingeringly sour and fruity. This is a damn good beer. Wish I had more Cantillon

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2015 375 ml bottle, 5 months old. Hazy golden body, medium to small head. Mildly acidic aroma with classic Lambic elements, nothing out of the ordinary. Pleasantly tart taste without getting excessively sour. Sweet and sour with a mixture of various apples in their different stages: from raw green ones to the ripe red ones and later even some that are almost starting to rot. Pleasantly tart finish. Highly drinkable.

Yellow-orange, hazy, white head. Aroma of mirabelle and brett, quite sour, unripe mirabelle. Soft carbonation. A very clean and crisp lambic without any off flavours. Very good.

At the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy darker golden color, topped with virtually no head to speak of. Cellary aroma, earthy with some grape notes. Taste has some sweetness in there, but characterized by a decent sourness. Not for everyone, but if you can appreciate something completely different, then quite enjoyable.

Smell is light to moderate sourness, oak, and brett. Taste is pretty much the same with the sourness being the dominant note. Medium body, low to medium carbonation, and light foam.

Golden honey coloured, cloudy, with a big but quickly fading white head. Smells of sour apples and white wine vinegar. Big yeast presence too. Light body, moderate carbonation but feels zinger due to the tartness. Apples, lemon, hint of sour cherry in the taste. Nice transition from sour to woody dryness. Best sour beer I’ve had - complex and interesting.

Colore paglierino, opaco. Odore di straccio, chiuso, cantina e agrumi.

2015/05/01 - On tap at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. Golden yellow colour with a head that quickly vanishes. Aroma of lemon, honey, hay and barnyard. Taste is lots of tart lemon and some mild barnyard funk. Mouthfeel is medium with mildly biting carbonation and a tart, acidic finish with a slight funk aftertaste. Love the tart crispness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,375L bottle, dated 28.11.2013 (from Wines of Galilee). Pours golden with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is sour, vinegar. Flavor is sour and bitter, medicinal, citrus, lemon, somewhat spicy even. Overall: good one.
