The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Aroma: Medium sourness, barnyard, tart. Light spicy, peppery. Appearance: Slightly hazy gold body. Small, off-white head. Flavour: Medium-light sourness, light barnyard, tart. Well balanced. Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Good beer. Still not a style I want to drink many of, but definitely 375 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 17E. Gueuze

Classy geuze! Bit acidic fruity - berry like sourness. Lovely lemon, mango, wood. Finishes more tart and quite dry. Enjoyable brew.

Bottled 1 Dec, 2014; drunk 10 July, 2015 at Känguruh in Vienna, Austria. 0.375l pour into Belgian challice. Pours a bright orange, moderately hazy, with no head to speak of. Nose is musty. Like a winter coat pulled out of the closet in August. Barnyard and dirt. Maybe even a hint of manure or moldy cheese. These don’t sound like good things, but strangely they work fairly well. Body is thin, crisp, and tart. Biting. Taste is intense. Starts out tart and gets tarter. Tastes like sour oranges, maybe sour cherry, some hay, and ends with a bit of dirt. Hard for me to describe accurately beyond intense. Complex. A beer made for sipping.

My favorite! This gueuze is special. And if you have the chance to taste it at Cantillon, in Brussels, the experience is even more magnificent.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 23E). Bottle 37.5 cl - Bottle on 03 June 2014. AROMA: moderate sour aroma with stable notes (horsy and goaty), some leather and touches of apple. APPEARANCE: goldenm color and translucent. average ehite head with low retention for the style. TASTE: initial sour flavour balanced with brett notes (barnyard, goat and leather). low bitterness with a dry and tart finish. PALATE: light body with a high tart quality but not astringent. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a somewhat balanced traditional gueuze with all the Brettanomyces Bruxelensis characteristics.

0,375 l bottle as "Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio" from P&M Getränke, bottled in june 2014 (one year old). Clear, apricot-coloured with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Intense, sourish-fruity and funky aroma of lemon, oak, gooseberry and fermented apples. Sourish, funky taste of lemon, fermented apples, goosebery and oak, followed by a long, very tart finish. Thin to medium body, spritzy and astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Heavily sour, but also quite fruity and highly refreshing. I cannot yet compare it, but I just love it. Great stuff!

0,375 cl bottled 27. August 2013. Cloudy orange in the glass, small white head. Surish tartness on the. Taste is nearly the same with a fruity mid dry bitterness. Crisp. Increasing sourness. Nice one.
