The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Color dorado pálido limpio con ligera espuma blanca. Aromas de fruta verde, madera y brett. En boca es ligera con un inicio afrutado, dulce y ácido muy equilibrado que contrasta con un final ,muy seco. Muy rica.

Very funky! Mushrooms, aged cheese, and barnyard animals in the aroma. Lots of carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Hints of Champagne. Very sour.

Bottle sample @Cantillon Quintessence 2014. Tasted a 1 year old (2013) and 12 year old (2002) version. 2013 : light orange. Aroma is tart. Taste sour, dry bitterness, dry finish. : 5/10, 3/5, 6/10, 3/5, 11/20. 2002 : cloudy light orange with a tiny white head. Aroma is a bit sour but not that acerbic. Taste is sour, less bitter than the younger one, little fruity.

Poured from 750 to glass. Straw hue with fizzy white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is acetic, lemon, grapefruit, lactic, straw. Mouthfeel is refreshing with a light body and high carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with a tart following and dry astringent finish. Overall this is a nice brew.

Pours translucent amber into a tumbler with frothy head, above average lacing/retention and aroma that takes you right to the brewery. Speaking of which- upon your first time walking into the brewery you’re hit with, what you later realize is the house terroir which this beer encompasses and embodies in all its greatness. Execution has been consistent for years, and this takes the nod as the beer that got me into lambic many years ago. One of the most solid, if not the best fresh gueuze available on the market. Aging does this wonders as well. Having sampled examples from the 70s through current, I can say without doubt that this gueuze certainly defies the test of time. This serves as the archetype and benchmark for those who age lambic as a hobby.

One of the better sour Belgians I’ve tried, but have not yet joined the supporters’ club. This will at least not make my face turn into nasty grimaces.

New 2014 Belgian Flag label; bottled 4-Oct-13. Hazy turbid amber, large rocky head quickly dies to a fine lacing. Aromas of musty basement, tart, acidic vinegar, lemons, grapefruit, hint of white wine, hay, cereals, bit of barnyard funk, yeasty, earthy grassy hops. Sharply citric & sour, nice grapefruit bittersweet flavours with a light sweetness from the malt & wheat trying to balance things out, slight milky sourness towards the end. Medium bodied, with lively, prickly carbonation cleansing the tongue leading to a bitter, drying long finish.

37.5cl bottle served in a Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass. Pours an orangey light amber colour with a very short lived white head. Despite a constant stream of bubbles emerging a somewhat flat beer. Mouthfeel is quite good for such a (relatively) light beer. Aroma is awful. Would be unfair to say what it smells like but the label provides a humorous likeness. Will not be trying any more beers of this style or from this brewery.
