Keg at The Hop & The Glory- 15th May. Well the first thing to note is there isn't as much carbonation as the bottled version. But frankly that's a good thing. I won't bore you with the rest of the details.

Classic bottle. 2011 Vintage. This truly was awesome. I haven’t been disappointed by a Cantillon yet. This certainly puts the silk and finesse back into a bottle of Gueuze. One the most drinkable examples that I’ve ever that experienced. Doesn’t destroy your palate or make your stomach curdle. Just tastes great. While not the best sour that I’ve ever had, I would happily drink this before most. Very well done.

Bottle. Pours hazy straw yellow, a finger of milky white head. Lively carbonation. Horse blanket and meadowgrass up front, huge acetic tartness. Lots of grapefruit and tangerine, hay, pee, light woody notes. More wood on the backend, biscuity malt finish. Nice and clean.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines. Orange amber beer with no head. Aroma of light vinegar and cat piss. Taste is again a little light vinegar, white wine and very tart and sour. Not one for me I’m afraid, big disappointment.

Bottled Feb 3, 2012. Been awhile since I've had this one, and that's a shame. Funky cheese, lemon citrus, and yeast aroma. Taste follows suit with more lemon peel than expected and a delicious, dry sourness profile on my palate.
So, I strongly prefer this to the 3F Oude Geuze & OGV, and I'm happy to be in the minority here. Classic Gueuze is simply fantastic, and I need more ASAP.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 gEUS (577) - Linden, BELGIUM - APR 29, 2013
750 ml bottle at home, poured in Cantillon gueuze glass.
APPEARANCE: hazy yellow to light gold, with a decent creamy head, slowly dissipating in a fine, champagne alike thin white head.
AROMA: citrus, tangerine peel and grapefruit at first, hten the barnyard funk, let it be in a very subtle way
PALATE: at first, a surprisingly bittersweet kick, the sourness slightly building up to end in a dry bitterness. But with a very round and creamy body. Wow!
TASTE: Ripe exotic fruits, especially grapefruit (like) and a bit of citrus. Aftertaste is malt (like bread).
OVERALL: very drinkable gueuze, has evolved over the years to a rounder body and less acidic taste. Approachable, still very complex. Definte like! Jean is a KING when it comes to taste, body and complexity, especially knowing that this beer is extremely hard to produce. Respect!

Picture this:
You’re standing in the door of a threshing barn, looking out over an orchard with apples, lemons and oranges.
The setting sun pours an amber haze over everything. You close your eyes and feel the sun’s warmth on your face, and the smells of the fruit - sweet and sour, almost stinging -, and barn - wood, somewhat mouldy, different cereals, dust, undefinable funk - swirl and mingle.
And you feel like you’d want to stay there forever.
That’s Cantillon geuze: amber to golden colour, your expected barnyard funky smell, and a very sour bite to it, just enough alcohol to warm you without burning. It’s a geuze, and i happen to love those, and this one is quite exceptional.
The ONLY pure and natural geuze: no addition of any yeasts, the wort is inoculated with wild yeast spores in the air.
The original beer, in every sense.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 dogbomb (632) - ENGLAND - APR 28, 2013
Bottle. December 2011. Opaque golden honey with a thin white head which disappeared almost completely instantly. A big sniff reveals something which smells like no other beer I’ve had before, salty and zesty with a little malt. A bit like a light sweat. Apple and cider smells. There’s a little clementine juice in there too. Drinking the first mouthful is a bit of a shock, doesn’t really have much of a "taste" persay but a real heavy sourness. Then suddenly the tastes are revealed - grapes, citrus, apple, cider, wheat hit. Really tastes like a good white wine. Tons of natural carbonation helping this to not overpower the mouth and the palate is fresh and long - like drinking a good wine. Really interesting, and a real sipper of a beer. Might have to grab a few of these for cellaring and serving at special occasions. medium body,
