The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Picked this one up after the Chicago real ale festival, fuckin great time! Anyway, a good gueuze. It was tart with a slight winey taste, lots of foam with the pour.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2015 Traditional gueze produced by 100% lambic, this Cantillon represents the perfect beer brew with 35% of wheat malt and 65% of barley malt and characterised by spontaneous fermentation. Balanced acidity and no strongly intense aroma of Bret or lactobacillus. Optimum with green and blue cheese.

from tap at Akkurat. such a fantastic beer! thin lasting head, vinuous funky nose, bright carbonation, delicious. the hype is for real. this beer is ideally balanced, refreshing, smooth sourness in the finish, salty barnyard funk (in a good way). I followed this up with a draft saison dupont (one if my favorite beers of all time) and it tasted like estery water in comparison, so I had to get another geuze. world class art.

Funky, hazy and delicious. A sweetness to the aroma and the tart is pretty subdued. A bit of funk on the finish, but real nice indeed

On draught (!) at Gollem by Rembrandtplein. Carbonation is super lively. Strong aroma of fruit and barn. Has this really unique tingle on the back of your mouth when you drink it. Inimitable.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a cloudy pale golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of funk, fruit and some wood. The taste was of citrus, apple, funk, and more wood.

Tap at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a big initial frothy white head. The aroma is lemon citrus sour.... a delicate introduction to what comes later! The flavour is strong acid sour with a clean crisp refreshing pure acid citrus palate. Itís not as sour as I was expecting but it still had a good go at taking the lining off the back of my throat! Iíll confess that Iím no "sour head" but this beer doesnít pull any punches. It is what it is. Itís a very refreshing sour that makes a statement which is "I donít care if you donít like me" !
