saxo (2119), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Nice head with ok duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are sour lactose acid and malt. AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 13, 2008 375ml bottle with a 2005 bottling date on cork. Dark golden with a tight white head. Great aroma is toasted wood, dandelions, with cheesy barnyard. Very tart tongue numbing mouthfeel. Medium body. Good flavors of lemon, dry wood, with a wheat bread maltiness. A nice gueze if not very complex. Avengedpoet (21), Arizona, USA Aug 13, 2008 Circa 2005.
Pours a super-hazy yellow with an initially monstrous head that simmers down after a decade and a half.
Tart, citrus nose, especially of lemon.
Taste is a base-funkiness that really hits your tongue on the sides in the back. Great lemony-tart character with many subtle flavors. What I thought would be an overwhelming carbonation taste did not come into play.
A very nice Gueuze; one of the best I have had. blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 My bottle (375ml) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours a hazy orange with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of funky yeast, cheese, some citrus and a hint of hops. Flavour follows the aroma: funky yeast, cheese, citrus and hops but adds sour fruit and has a finish that’s quite dry. Acidic, astringent palate.
Quite nice, and refreshing in it’s own way. Ljunkan (120), Karlstad, Sweden Aug 8, 2008 375 ml bottle. Hazy yellow color with a white, quickly disappearing head. Aroma is vinous, sour, smokey with som stable. Flavour is sour with citrus, unmatured apples and some unmatured gooseberries. This was my first gueuze ever, but I thought this would be even sourer than it was. It feels balanced, nice and quite easy to drink!
