COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

Don’t know how long this bottle hovered in back of the liquor store cooler in Clinton, NJ, but it doesn’t have the current label...
Whoa! Big horsey smell when I finally got the slightly moldy cork out of the bottle. Kicked up a big foamy head when I poured it, that quickly subsided as I set up some crackers and blue cheese. Appearance is just like a pilsner, yet somehow more pleasing. That original smell went away, too. Taste combines aspects of a dry champagne and a sour grape juice. Sourness is not distracting, rather, allows more subtle traces of fruits. Can’t pick up too much malts or hops, but color is like a good French farmhouse ale. Yeast dregs on bottom add extra note of grape skin tannins.

Not a huge fan of the lambics, but cantillon does an excellent job and this is no doubt a finely crafted brew. Consistent yet complex sour flavor.

Pours a hazy golden with a small white head, sour grape aroma with a lovely tart taste and dry finish.

375ml 2013 Belgian flag. Definitely the most barnyard funky sour I’ve had. Seriously has a bit of horse piss. Mild sour and tartness. They make much better fruit sours.

Smells of prunes & caramelised morello cherries. The first taste is acidic & bitter but once your palate gets used to this combination it flows like a sour champagne with a bitter finish. Tastes like limes, pineapples & bitter grapefruit. A beer to have when you fancy a sparkling white wine! Rated by BrewTom

On Tap at the Wildeman, Amsterdam. Nose classic Geuze, hints of oak, barnyard, light funk. Beautiful mouth feel marrying oak and acidity with some sweetness. Great stuff. Shame it's 7.20 per glass. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Couleur blonde avec un col assez résistant blanc. Aromes de céréales, fruits jaunes sures, acidité moyenne. Très stable et balancé. Une gueuze dans les règles de l’art!

750ml bottle from Belgian e-shop Have tried three time over two years, tasting note of latest. The first ever Gueuze tried, having read about it and expecting what to taste, I was 100% satisfied. Straw color with thin white head. Aroma starting grassy then cheesey, wet hay, intense barnyard, fruity. Taste is citrusy, tart and funky, not much acetic acid mostly lactic and complex, nice light sweetness too but acidic is amazingly overwhelming and satisfying. Aftertaste is very intense and lasting, reminding you to get another sip as fast as possible.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2014 An amazing Gueuze. Of course, it’s quite special, not for any occasion, it is very sour and dry. There is a lot of apple and raisin with a beautiful crisp nose. I prefer to drink it quite chilled even if they would have it almost room temperature in Cantillon. This Gueuze is great because it is so complex yet very simple straightforward taste without to much sweetness which can be a problem with other breweries...
