The world's classic Gueuze. A blend of one, two, and three year-old lambics creates a second fermentation in the bottle. The champagne of Belgium. In contrast, the Lou Pepe Gueuze is a blend of three 2-year-old lambics.

Newer vintages are labeled "Organic Gueuze", "100% Lambic Bio" or "Classic Gueuze".

375ml bottle. Pours a clear, bright medium gold, with a small white head, which does not last all that long nor leave much lacing. Leather, champagne and some funky sour notes create an alluring aroma. Green apple up front leads into dry champagne, with some sourness leading into a leathery, woody flavour in the mid-palate. It ends strongly tart and sour, with cider apple and lemon-lime notes. There is a lingering sour and leathery aftertaste. This is a very good beer, not only potently sour, but with serious complexity to back it up. Great stuff.

375ml Belgian flag bottle in Paris July 2014. Dark gold. The aroma starts with grass, hay and a tart, funk element that's cut with strong lemon zest. The taste follows suit with strong citrus acidic notes. The tartness and funk balance each other perfectly and as the beer warmed up pepper and wood notes came out. The mouthfeel was nice and light with high carbonation. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Staminee de Garre, Brugge. Pours slightly hazy light amber with small white head. Clear, vinous aroma, with subtle notes of fruit and touches of hops. Vinous flavour with dusty notes and touches of leaves, as well as bitter, hoppy hints. Dry and sourish, but rather mild, aftertaste. Low carbonation. Decent, indeed.

Bottle @ home 20140720. 2013. Pours cloudy golden with a dense medium head.Aroma: A little rotten at first, then green apples, a minimal funkiness. Taste is old apples, oaky tannins very slight funk. Dry and astringent, a little thin. It feels like something is missing in the middle. More funk would perhaps have been nice.

Bottle at home. Delightful geuze and way sharper and tarter than I remember. Real lip puckering stuff. Big sour apple and musty lemon, hay, dust. Really long dry finish complimented by fine carbonation. Classic fare.

Pours a matte golden yellow with no head. Nose is sour apple with citrus and yeast. Taste sour apple with a sudden attack of sourness that perfectly smoothes toward the end of a fruity after taste.

Thanks to joedevivre for share. Beautiful beer. Gold color. Tart fruit, lemon, earth funk, sour apple on the nose. Taste is slightly sour, but with nice solid light body. Crisp with dry finish. Fantastic.

Aroma of malts, earthy funk, wood, tart fruits, sour apples. Flavour is sour vinegar, a little malt. Very smooth and tart, wonderfully balanced. Wow.

poured a slight cloudy golden yellow colour with a white head. barnyard, lemons, grapefruits, acid, hay, vinegar, citrus, grains, tart. however for me the 3 fonteinen geuze is a bit better. because of the more sharp sourness.
