COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"For Akkurats (Stockholm/Sweden) fifteenth anniversary, Jean Van Roy has made a very special Gueuze. It is a blend of one, two, and three year old lambic and was bottled in April of 2005. It has then been fermented and matured for five years in the deep caveaus of Cantillon. 15 years is the minimum age for driving a moped in Sweden, which is why we are choosing the name, Gueuze Vélomoteur."

(Bottle) Pours hazy golden with a medium sized, off-white bead. The aroma is mega funky with notes of horse blanket, mouldy basement and barnyard brett up front alongside clear lacto notes. Also boat loads of citrus (grapefruit and lemon), elder, sweaty cheese, phenols (smoked meat) and subtle spices. Touch of pineapple. The flavour is dry, medium to heavily acidic and tiny bitter with notes of brett, lacto, citrus, cheese, wheat, white bread and phenols. The mouthfeel is soft and tart with a light to medium carbonation. Citric, funky and wheaty finish. Light to medium bodied.

[4/24/15] Bottle at Akkurat in Stockholm. 2005 bottle. Hazy golden with a nice stable white head. Lovely big funky aroma with some oak, sweat, cobwebs, leather, barnyard and fruits. Sour flavor, funky, with oak, a bit of lemon, fruitiness and a juicy finish. Astringent bone dry finish. Medium-bodied. Wonderful stuff. Refreshing.

Enjoyed a 75CL with some very fun Swedish Gents tonight @ Akkurat. Paid 935 SEK. Split 4 ways and poured very carefully by the bartender who had a great sense of humor and excellent English!

A - Beer is a hazy golden orange with not a lot of cork pop on the opening. First pour seemed flat but the 2nd pour for myself was a nice dense 2 finger head of classic Cantillon Gueuze bubbles.

S - Aroma is nearly perfect but it lacks the cheesiness I like but this is actually not a surprising aroma for a Cantillon beer. A little metallic, some lemon, pastry/dough, brett, orange baked with tart candies.

T - This is quite a sour beer, almost more than I can handle. Very musky with bright fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Blue cheese, hay, bread dough, lots of sour fruits, kiwi (skin and all).

M - Chalks and coats the teeth along with lingering for quite a while with intense sourness and lingering grape taste.

O - Very nice beer. Not the only reason to visit Stockholm or Akkurat but certainly a very nice beer to try. I was informed that there is now 1 bottle left for consumption to guests. I asked if this was similar to Belgium in that bars often state "you just bought our last bottle" but no, not so here in Stockholm. They truly have 1 left.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2015 Bottle at Akkurat. Cloudy yellow pour with a white head. Mellow barnyard and funk bouquet. Tangy with wonderful sour citrus highlights. Extremely complex with funk, barnyard, horse blanket, and lemon zest notes. Fantastic body and mouthfeel. Absolutely fantastic.

Bottle (750 ml) @ Akkurat. Hazy golden with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is heavier than usual Cantillon gueuze with grass, mushrooms, nice funk, dusty notes light minty notes and hints of citrus/lemon. Taste is also a bit heavier with moderate acidity, grass, funk, minty notes, oak and dust. Light/medium body, but mouthfeel is full. Medium carbonation. Dry and oaky finish. Nice gueuze. Not the most drinkable, but very tasty. Good balance. It suffered from the comparison with old 3F gueuzes (1999, 2002) that we had the same day though.

Review from notes. Bottle from Akkurat.

Pours golden yellow, white thin ring, wisps. Nose is musty oak, citrus, some funk, light sweetness. Flavor is citrus, oak, tartness, grassy notes. Light body, dry tart finish.

A wonderfully aged Gueuze that I’m super-happy I was finally able to try. Hopefully there’s a full bottle with my name on it when I visit Akkurat in the future.

Bottle at Akkurat. Pours a somewhat muddy peach with a medium frothy white head. Aromas of funk, citrus, farmhouse, soil, elderflower, slight metallic notes, and oaky mustiness. Taste is funk, citrus, sour peach, farmhouse, honey, musky notes and towards the end slight mushroom, and umami notes almost. Mouthfeel is somewhat sprightly with medium carbonation and a dry sparkling finish. Fantastic!

Bottle at Akkurat. Slightly hazy gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is really nice, super dusty, grassy, leafy notes, light mushroomy aromas, a hint of rosemary or something herbal of the sort. Taste is fairly acidic, sharp lemony notes, dusty, grassy farmyard funk. Palate is light, bone dry, with light prickly carb. As far as aged Cantillon gueuze goes this is really tasty but I still think it is far from Drie fonteinen for this.

Bottle @ Akkurat. A great gueuze with the high quality of Cantillon. The funk, barnyard and dry, dirty countryside is all there but apart from the aging it has little that adds to either complexity or taste.

Tasted at Akkurat with Joe in 2012... A special bottling for moto subculture. Tasty, cheesy, funky and plenty of character, though nothing specifically sets it apart from a normal Geuze of this age. Extremely tasty but seemilngly underwhelming while tasting the Reed Geuzes and Goldackerl, et al. A solid oude gueuze and a cool bottling to try in Stockholm.
