[9/20/15] Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke in Denderleeuw. Hazy golden. Great barnyard aroma with oak, lemon, fruitiness. Wonderful sour flavor, full of barnyard, sweat, lemon, oak, fruitiness, and an astringent note. Rounded mouthfeel. Really great stuff. Easy-drinking.

75CL enjoyed @ DHVL for 85 Euros. I figured the darn price keeps going up so I might as well order it before it costs more than Blauw!!!!! Was 25 a year ago. sigh. Split 2 ways and I shared the dregs with some Americans.

A - Slightly cloudy Burt orange appearance. 1 finger dense creamy head. Carbonation but nothing dense.

S - Aroma is very musty. Lemon and creamy with a dense oak and peach skin.

T - Up front, very lemon forward with kiwi, papaya and mango finish is metallic and oaky with cooper, mineral, sweetness and something chemical in nature.

M - Not a great overall mouthfeel either...just low carb, unfulfilling.

O - This is a solid Geuze today but maybe in 1-2 years time, it will improve to a level worth of the price tag. Given the rarity, price and overall taste, I can’t get this one high-marks.

Bottle consumed at De Heeren. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Enticing barnyard bouquet. Superb mouthfeel with lemon and citrus notes leaping out at you. Lots of barrel and almost vinous like undercurrents. Somewhere in the distance are sweet malty backbeats. Perfect body.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2014 Bottle from De Heeren. Shared with friends for the 30th birthday. Pours clear orange color with some brown undertones. Nose is sweeter than expected, not much funkiness from the 3F and not much lemon from the Cantillon. Somewhat malty/stale character to it as well. Taste is a lot sweeter than I expected as well. Almost no funkiness to it whatsoever, pretty underwhelming flavor wise actually for two powerhouse lambic producers. Gentle mouthfeel, light carbonation, moderate acidity, and an enduring finish. Too young right now, would like to revisit in 4-5 years when this develops more.
