KAME (156), California, USA Apr 2, 2007 A very nice middle of the ground, mild mannered and unblended lambic. Pours a golden copper with a lasting foamy-like head. Aroma is tart, acidic, and citrusy, with a hint of lambic mustiness. Flavor is a bit one dimensional, driven by tart citrus fruits and white grapes. The fresh hop bittenress shows up in the finish, which is also quite acidic. A very nice and easy-drinking lambic. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 28, 2007 Updated: Apr 15, 2007When comparing this side by side with the Bruoscella, reaction to the Iris was "yeah, that’s what a lambic should be!" Really preferred the Iris. Looks like a lambic, hazy gold, good head. Nose is subdued, which is the best one can hope for in a lambic. Sour, funky, not foul. Taste is sour, intense, slightly pissy, long finish, and more detectable hops than usual in a lambic. Worked quite well. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 27, 2007 Updated: Jul 30, 2007750 ML Bottle of 2004: Minuscule fizzy head and hazy golden (slight orange) body. Distinct hop and yeast presence. Bitter. Very sour. Non-sweet. Very appeasing and quenching and brought to mind a happy paint thinner olfactory. One of a kind beer. Reminded me of fresh cedar planks. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Mar 25, 2007 My friend said this was the best Cantillon beer, but i thought the others were much better. Hmmm. Tried at the 12 Hour Belgian Beer Party in Carlsbad, CA. Possibly the best beer tasting ever, with 70 bottled and 20 draft beers. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Mar 24, 2007 2004 bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a very thin white ring of bubbles. Smells of intense sugary sourness, lemons, loads of wild farmhouse funk (but none of teh offputting odd aromas normally associated with their lambics). Lots of grassy hay hints are also there. Tastes of almost over the top tarte lemon, residual sugar is pretty much non-existant. Mouthfeel is light but in a quaffable way. Finish yields hints of bitterness. Not a whole lot going on here beyond the tartness. On the plus side, this is very sessionable. I could see mysef drinking this regularly in the summer if it were a bit cheaper. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 21, 2007 Bottle shared at the Columbus Tasting V:Yellow orange pour with a white head. Aroma of sour, bret, a bit of funk and some yeast. Lots of barnyard flavors coming out: bret, sour, some funbk as well. Light body, pretty sour throughout with a dry-sour finish. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Mar 16, 2007 between crown cap and cork was a clear liquid layer that smelled of madeira , and vinegar 750 ml. bottle- color of orange honey , with a tick eggshell colored head – delicate nose of sweet white grapes (chardonnay , riesling ) , yeast , lime , sour grass , yellow apples ,and hint of floral hops – taste of wonderful sourness , and tartness , white wine vinegar , chalky , slight maltyness , slight caramel , and barnyard – body is dry , acidic , and a little harsh– aftertaste of chalk , white wine , and astringent petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Mar 13, 2007 Pours clean and yellow.
The aroma is funky with dirty old hops. That goes for the flavour as well, but a nice mellow sourness kicks in and it ends dry and bitter.
