4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared by Greg at Zwanze Day 2012.
This is the kind of thing I like out of a Cantillon gueuze, has picked up a lot of nice wine characteristic and isn’t super heavy on the palate. I wish I had gotten a bigger pour to get a better taste, but am extremely grateful for the share nonetheless.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This has aged nicely from the days when it was a young, developing beer to today where it has grown into a fully mature, grandfatherly type of gueuze. The horse blanket has come forth and the results are good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, rather fast fading white head.
NOSE: barnyard, fruity, some oak, quite sour.
TASTE: some funk left, oak, quite sour, don’t get too much wine in it though... Nice one!

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
37.5CL Bottle Acquired in a trade in August of 2013. Allowed to sit upright since then in the cellar undisturbed. Enjoyed @ 40F (Fridge Temp) in 2 stemmed tasters. Poured carefully, no sediment transferred and split 2 ways on a very random Wednesday.
A - The appearance is very light for a Cantillon Gueuze. It’s almost straw-like very yellow, slight haziness and the head was about 1 finger with a quite vigorous pour. It was not the usual pillow-like head I’ve come to expect.
S - Smells like a very salty olive brine with cheese and mushroom with a bit of truffle oil. Honestly, the saltiness dominates most of the nose. There’s a very faint lemon aroma but it’s hard to really pick out. There is a little bit of funk on the nose as it warms up. Very faint though.
T - The taste is really interesting but honestly, I just get salted olive brine like a dominating sea-salt, kelp, fishy taste. A lot of funky old cheese, mold, a bit of grape and sour lemon finish. What a strange taste.
M - body is medium with a slight carbonation on a swish, oily finish with lingering lemon, gouda, and more funk
O - This was was sort of a let-down. #11 on the retired Gueuze list on RateBeer? The guy who traded me this has traded with me before and all of his bottles were real, authentic and he’s very trustworthy so I assume it’s the real thing as it tastes nothing like any other Cantillon Gueuze. The salty olive taste is just a huge let-down. What a shame. I waited an extra 20 minutes and let it warm and decant. The flavor doesn’t get any better but the nose does get more intense. Looks like my review brought this from #11 on the list to #13. Terribly sorry about that but seriously, just not good :(

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Zwanze Day 2014… Pours hazy and amber with golden highlights and no head. The nose is an earthy, citrusy mélange of horse blanket, barnyard-like funk and lemon zest. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, bready, woody and funky. Lengthy, tart, then tangy finish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Huge want, thanks to Tom and Francis. Pour a clear blond with a ring of foam. Aroma is very bretty, there is also wood, cheese and also pears (maybe from the use of different wine barrels) Taste is very oaky with some brett, cheese and lemon. Appropriate carbonation. Very good gueuze.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle shared by tom10101 and minderbinder, thanks bros. pours hazy/cloudy pale golden with a small and reviving white cap, nice lacing. very fruity, spicy flowers, astringent wood and cognac, grass, light and welcoming acidity - lactic at first, then the usual suspects, some funk - then again not outrageously. bright carbonation, light body, drying and firmly tart grassy-herbal finish. balanced blend. tasty and different. good stuff!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by Minderbinder and tom10101, thanks! Pours a clear golden with a medium white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of apricots and pepper, quite fruity. Taste is of fruits as well with a moderate acidity and some flavors reminescent of meyer lemons. Body was light and carbonation moderate. Overall an awesome experience, color me impressed if this is simply some rebranded Classic Gueuze!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (750 ml). From Romain, thanks! Slightly hazy bright golden with a medium fluffy white head and little lacing. Aroma is similar to Cantillon Gueuze bio with a little more depth... oak, wet hay, lemony notes, tea leaves, oak and light funk. Taste has even more depth than aroma with light but interested funk, oak, tea leaves, hay and lemony notes. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Fluffly mouthfeel. Dry finish. Super balance. Tasty and drinkable. A little more refined than the regular Cantillon Gueuze bio. Very good!
