3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 19, 2010
2010-08-09. Bright ruby red body with a foamy pink head. First sniff carries an unexpected note of gingerbread that diffuses into a cherry fruit cake like character, light funky undertones. 7+ Flavour is bracingly sour on first sip, less so on subsequent sips, quite acidic in the finish it makes it hard to pick out the cherry flavours but sweet and sour cherry notes do make appearances. Average bodied palate is modestly effervescent. Solid kriek! Bottle at Cantillon, Brussels
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kopher (530) - New York, USA - AUG 17, 2010
standard cantillon aroma with a bit of extra cherry/fruit: a horse-y sourness with lots of citrus and barely a hint of malt vinegar.
pours a bright red, slightly pink foamy head.
flavor is intensely tart with a sweet fruit component.
dry and a long sour cherry finish.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 pharkanklaus (34) - KBH N, DENMARK - AUG 10, 2010
Bottle. Pours dark red with pink foam.
Fragile, elegant, sour nose with a tart dryness that reveals that something besides Saccharomyces has been working here.
The cherries are dominating the taste with a powerful blend of wood, fruit and vinegar. the finish is dry and extremely sour.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 50belair (933) - Florida, USA - AUG 7, 2010
rating #100 is my first Kriek. 2008 bottle. Grapefruit colored brew with a small white head. The aroma is funk and cherry, duh. The taste is sour with tart cherry, vinegar, funk, and wet cut grass notes. This is definitely an acquired taste.....
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 portableparty (1008) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - AUG 6, 2010

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 deyholla (3154) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 5, 2010
Bottle. Poured a near clear deep red with a bit of a pink hue and a slowly dissipating white head that had a pink hue. Aroma was full of tart cherries that were slightly acidic. Flavor begins full of tart cherries and built to a slight acidic finish. Quite a bit dry in the finish as well. Really enjoyed it.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 fear025 (212) - Illinois, USA - AUG 3, 2010
2007 vintage.
Aroma:Smells like sour cherries, and unlit cigar tobacco.
Appearance:Ruby Red. Very little head. Poor lacing.
Taste:Oh my god, this is sour! It has huge mouth puckering tart and sour cherry flavors. I don’t really get many subtle flavors out of this one, it’s not a subtle beer.
Palate:This beer is smooth, and a little bit acidic on the back of my throat.
Overall:This beer is a great sour beer. It’s just tart and sour and cherries, with no off flavors.

At least I think that’s what the cork says. It should be "Bottled in 1996", but it’s in a state of disintegration. It crumbles upon contact with the corkscrew.
Five minutes and a re-purposed thermometer later, the beer descends into the glass pallid pink. What’s this? Carbonation? Uncanny. Smells funky, woody, cherry. After all these years the beer retains a good amount of tart fruit. And vanilla, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is gentle, delicate. The 04 and 08 that were opened in tandem are syrup by comparison.
Cantillon’s regular fruit lambics hit their stride at about two years, then stumble. I had no idea they could regain their footing. Quite a comeback.
Thanks for the bottle, mymrnngjckt.
