Unappreciated at the table. Sour. Cherry/red fizz. A pleasant drink that does not overwhelm with sour. In fact, I would want more.

This is the second bottle in as many days that I’ve needed a corkscrew for. Pours candy red, and pours like a syrup – it fell silently into the glass, with a minimal amount of fizz that rose to the top. This ought to be different. The aroma is startlingly tart – like sour cherry candy – almost seems like they added some of that powder that coats sour patch kids. Cherries, sour raspberries and cranberries. Some musty barnyard funk, too. Yikes. This one actually makes me pucker it’s so tart. I can detect the cherries, and what taste like raspberries as well, but the tartness just overpowers everything, and it’s very superficial. Extremely acidic, no balance, and little depth / complexity. Big disappointment – makes me wonder if it was a bad bottle.

Another score for Cantillon with this beauty. I’d have kept this one in storage for about 2 years, so for Thanksgiving it’s a good time as any to rip into this one. <br /><br /> The beer pours out a slightly hazy reddish/brown color with a slight pink at the edges with a pink foamy cap. Aroma is bitter/acidic &#40;stomach acid&#41; with some cherries, dust, and funk. Flavor was dry as a bone, with the subtle cherry flavor, lemony, and acidic. Great beer, enjoyed the bottle but not sure more than one I could do.

Small white head atop a shimmering, opaque grapefruit-center color. Nice bod&#033; Nose is bitingly sour and dirty with cherry, earth, and dusty barn. Flavor has loads of fruit in it with some sour barn qualities. Very refreshing. Quite a creamy body and not nearly as crisp as I’d expect. Another nice one from Cantillon.

Cloudy ruby red. Scant pinkish head. Aroma of sour cherries and lemon. Sour cherry taste with musty dryness. Ages extremely well. A classic kriek, in a league of its own.
