This beer rocks! Very hazy, rubyish-colored brew. Small, fizzy, pink head. The aroma is wonderful. Very geueze-like. Woodsy, earthy and fruity with undertones of grapefruit and overtones of lemon. The flavor is much like the aroma... very tart, very complex. Citrus fruit, woodsy and earthy. Astringent, sour finish. Mouth-wateringly wonderful!

(750ml bottle, cork dated 2003) Cloudy ruby red colour with a small fizzy layer. Aromatic aroma of sour cherries and bitter almonds with a strong acidic note and traces of horseblanket. Very acidic and dry flavour, almost astringent. Sour and slight fruity taste of sour cherries. Vinous and bone dry finish with an enormous tartness. Quite demanding for the drinker.

Bottle with cap and cork. Poured hazy reddish color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex tart cherry aroma. Medium body. Medium sour cherry flavor with a medium tart finish of moderate duration. Tart fruit refreshing brew.

Red amber coloured, small foamy layer; heavy acidic nose with a tinge of almonds and cherries, traces of horse blanket......;starts sour and fruity; dry, acidic flavour; long lasting, extremely dry and tart finish; not a beer for every day! If You drink this Kriek, be sure to have always fluorides in Your pocket; otherwise the Cantillon might crack up Your enamel........

A Mes rate: 37.5cl bottle from The White Horse. Standard Cantillon fayre but compared with most others that means very good indeed. I will refrain from going on about barns and horses and dry fruitiness. You know what this beer is about. Not as tart as some of their offerings but just as enjoyable and always a cracker. Certainly a fine kriek.

Koelschtrinker (7054) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 19, 2011
Test vom 27.10.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,13,12,13,13,13 - 12,75

Poured a medium to dark hazy red with almost no head. Dominant sour cherry and musty aromas. Very sour and tart tasting. Maybe I don’t fully appreciate this style or my tastes are sophisticated enough yet, but this did very little for me. At least I tried (and will try again!).

Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 11, 2005
(Fresh from the tap, unblended) Deep cherry red with light cherry head. Light fresh sweet cherries in aroma. Ever puckering sourness, with fresh cherries in mouth, but a bit light bodied. (7-4-7-3-13). Aged bottled version was more intense on the cherries in aroma, more tart, due to blending with gueuze. Excellent (8-4-8-4-16). Sampled at Quintessence Cantillon 2005.
