3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jeppe (2633) - Ølbutikken, - MAR 18, 2004
Beautiful hazy dark cheery color, fine pink head. Sour cherry and woody aroma, very fresh! Flavor is extremely tart and dry with wood and cherry and vinegar in the finish. A quite nice kriek but you really have to be in the mood for this stuff!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 BlackIPA (326) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Shared by me at the Monte’s Krown tasting yesterday. Pours a beautiful hue of cloudy red with a small head. Looks awesome. Very funky smell, complex oak and rich deep cherries that have soured form the nose of the beer. Tart taste, very funky, balanced out baby a slight fruitiness, though not sweet at all. Very good, the first bottle finished in one pass arond the table at the tasting, and the best beer of the night for me.

Red beer with slightly pink head. A little hazy. Smells like vinegar and berries. The taste is as well berries, grapes, grape fruit and vinegar. Quite fizzy and really delicious.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Lowenbrau (346) - SPAIN - MAY 15, 2012
375ml bottle. Cherries, sour aromas. Pours bright redd with pinkish small head, vanishing, no lacing. Body is light and carbonation is high. Crispy. Taste is really sour, non suitable for some palates. Long sour finish. Really tasty, astrigent. Some people may not like this aggressive beers... more for me!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Nocturne (142) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2012
Draught at Mikkeller Bar. Pinkish red with a small ring of foam. It’s one of the most sour of the Cantillon lambics that I’ve tried, but there’s never an unpleasant moment. Cherry character really comes to the fore and sticks to your teeth. Excellent depth of flavour and wonderful complexity. When I first had a bottle of this I was blown away, and it’s just as good on tap. Cantillon are the masters.
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2012
The only beer I’ve never finished in my long yet illustrious life! Never before have I wasted and poured a beer down the drain!
75cl Green cork and crowned bottle. Bottled 30 Aug 2007, poured down my sink 7 Aug 2008.
Opened for friends during a Belgian beer evening. Nearly lost a couple of friends that night.
This is one nasty, sour puss of a Lambic. Some modern more commercial Lambics are very sweet (to try and get the youngsters interested), this is at the other end of the scale, in fact it is off the scale completely for sourness.
I have visited the Cantillon Brewery in Brussels and I have tried to like/embrace this style of brewing, but I can see why it is struggles in the modern world.
Try it by all means, but please don’t claim it is a wonderful drink.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 SaintMatty (2847) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - MAY 7, 2012
Bottle (at the brewery) - Red with a pinkish head. Nutty and fruity aroma with notes of almonds and cherries. Tart and refreshing taste with cherries, walnuts and plums detected. Tart, refreshing and slightly warming finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 bdunhill (134) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 1, 2012
This brussels lambic made of all natural ingredients using sour cherries has a extremely distinctive nose. With hints of berries and the expectation of sweetness which is deciving. The appearance is light red/ rose and cloudy with a small froothy bubbly head. It tastes sour with a lemony twist on the tongue and leaves a linguring bitterness in the back of your throat. This is an extremely complex beer that isn’t for your average lambic drinker, come into this open minded!
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 JAXSON (395) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 30, 2012
Bottled exactly two years ago. Pours clear pinkish red with a large cotton candy head, louder than most ’lones. Nose is soft, deep cherries, but light and airy. Not as heavy or pit-like as the Lou Pepe Kriek. Mouth is very sour, round and tight around the edges, beautiful fruit and funk wrapped into a short, dry, puckering finish. At two years it’s better than the fresh Kriek I’ve had, and mostly because of the non-acidic, vibrant quality I’d take it over the Lou Pepe Kriek. A beauty.
