12 oz corked and capped green bottle, bottled June 29, 2012; 7 months old. Pours hazy ruby red with a medium pink-white head with decent retention. Aroma is strong in cherry pits, almonds; some funk in there, too. Taste is sour with a full-on cherry assault. This is the real stuff; it tastes like cherries grown from wild trees, no artificialness here; reminiscent of cherry pie, with hints of spice to go along with the fruit. Mouthfeel is creamy, carbonation fine. Really tasty.

Rosso rubino con schiuma bianca fragile e rosata. Acida e fruttata al naso, controparte acetica ben bilanciata; gusto acidulo, fruttatissimo, note di ciliegia ben presenti. Corpo lieve, carbonata, dissetante, piacevole.

29 June 2012 Pours a dark ruby red color that’s completely opaque with a half finger pinkish white head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Musty, funky aroma with a strong barnyard character that gives off hints of dry oak, horsebkanket, cobweb and wet earth along with uber fresh cherry. Sweet sugars, fruit skins and cherry pit but the nose is dominated by the funky bugs, oak barrel and lactic notes. Tart and puckering with the perfect amount of sour acidity balanced out by sweet fruit sugars. This is a recent vintage so the cherries really stand out with an almost dessert/pie like flavor but the sweetness is excellently balanced by earthy barnyard funk, dry oak and acetic vinegar. Very dry and tart throughout with earthy oak, lactic and acetic funk, and a lingering vinegar-like flavor in the finish that has me salivating for more. Aggressively sour but never too harsh or solvent like because of the freshness of the fruit. Again, I’m picking up the skin and pit of the fruit which adds complexity while complimenting the sour, earthy funk flavors. Not a beginner sour/Lambic but I find it delicious and pretty easy to drink.

Have had this to many times to count. If this was available to me all the time I would have it after dinner everyday. Pours out a cloudy reddish maroon topped with a pinkish head. Nose is classic cantillon bugs funk along with the nice tart cherries. Taste is more of the funky house taste and nice tart cherries.

Lovely sourness coming from the lambic and sour cherries. Not as much cherry aroma as I was expecting, but very enjoyable. Lovely deep pink/red colour.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2015 Beautiful cherry red color, intense, large stable head. A: perfect sour, fruity cherry and barnyard mix. Barrel hint. T: sour dominates but it is very well balanced with the fruitiness from the cherries, real nice. Cherry sourness in the development, perfect geuze sourness. Aftertaste is a bit dry, but not much, cherry fruitiness. Great!

Bottles poured at the Shelton Fest in St. Pete. Pours a deep reddish purple with a small pink head. Aroma is super sour cherries, some vinegar, p[ears, apples, and that Cantillon unique yeasts. Taste is up front tart cherries, slight cherries sweetness on the finish, some mild vingegar, and again that unique Cantillon yeasts. Light body, moderate to heavy carb, just plain delicious. It is not as tart as the 3 Font kriek.

Cantillon Kriek bottled May 2014 Pours a vibrant, ruby red color, with a small pink head. Smells of an intriguing, leathery tartness, blending directly into the beers ripe cherry quality. Has a pleasant mineralic profile atop of the barnyard funkiness, both highlighting the sweet, ripe character of the fruits. There is also a whiff of tomatoe shrub underneath, accompanied by earthy sherry stem and red wine barrel, completing the wonderful aromas. Drinks very soft, while a lower carbonation adds a refreshing note to the pungent tartness, consisting of fermented cherries and funky bretts. Tastes of a glue defined, dusty earthiness, with an uncompromising tart character to it, which gets softened when cherries become noteable, evoking almost a cinnamon impression, based on the richness of the oak barrel synergating with the fruit ripeness. A good amount of white lemon zest goes hand in hand with matured cherries, which turn even moldier during the finish. The beers finish focusses entirely on the prominent cherries, revealing a leather coated stone pit quality with sweet cherry skin to it. This offers a great cherry depth, featuring a nice crispness during the beginning, which turns more mature, riper while drinking. Exhibits a great interaction between sour funk and fermented fruits, throughout evolving on the palate.

Bottle from May 2014: Sour sweet cherry, fruity aroma. Clear deep red liquid with a small white head. Sour and sweet taste, with a long lasting taste of cherries. Great palate; full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. I really appreciate enjoying this kriek from Cantillon!
