4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A stunning Cantillon beer at the Rake! Great work by the Rake to give us TWO Cantillons in the space of a few months. Iím pretty gobsmacked! I consumed this with Ang with the presance of Rich and Glyn.
Great company; fantastic beer. Dark red texture is stunning. So well balanced. Very long finish. Feel like my lambic palete has turned full circle. Great work in under a year. Iíd pair this wih a gateaux from the black forest or some dark chocolate. Thanks Tom for fantasitc conditioning.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2010 A Mes rate. Keg at the Rake.
Candy apple red, slightly hazy and zero carbonation just as it should be. Young lambic wheaty funk with a barrage of sharp fruity goodness. This. Is. Fucking. Sublime. So good itís almost comical. Each sip brings forth a huge shit eating grin that is beyond my control. Lashings of cinnamon and spice. Insane amounts of fresh fruity lunacy. So incredibly tarty, it should be x-rated. The mouthfeel is perfect. All the tartness sits around the edges and forms a tunnel of love for all the elegant sweet wonderfulness to fall into. Kinda like Emma Pierson in skimpy white La Perla undergarments, falling backwards onto a plush king size bed clad in crimson silk sheets. Itís clearly a thing of unrivaled beauty. Ok thatís my first half gone. Off to the bar for round two... Stunning fruit, just stunning. Very little acidity. More lactic than anything. The cherry notes are accompanied by strawberry, green apple, maybe even some apricot. Itís a full set of Jolly Ranchers. The length is amazing but however much itís hangs around, itís never enough. Iíve been hankering after this for a long time, and far from disappointing, it has exceeded my expectations. Utterly brilliant stuff. I think Iím getting the horn...

Not much carbonation by the time I got this but I expected that so rating based on the fact that it was still quite good and enjoyable. An experience to me because it actually tasted different than a lot of other ones similar in style. Funky with cherry and a little wood. Some earthyness and more fruit with a little lingering odd flavor. Still good.

BCTC. Many thanks to the incredible generosity of the RB crowd. Red with ring. Funky barnyard hay cherry aroma. Funky cherry sweaty horseballs hay barnyard with dry finish. Ok, I was drunk by this time, but my notes say I really liked this.

Metalic cabage yeast and dark fruit nose , pool water. Tart and ripe lactic finish with a lingering juicyness. Looks like grape juice with a disipating effervesence.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft @ Monkís as Cantillon Monks Cafť Cuvee Kriek - consumed immediately after a bottle of RR Supplication (batch 2) at Monks. This one was blood red (as best as I could tell at the back bar) with no head. Aroma was bold with some really nice sour cherries, funk, and wet barrel. Flavor is much more cherry dominant than any Cantillon Iíve had - lots of wood, dark/tart cherry, and smoke. Really good, but having the Supplication right before might have dampened my enthusiasm just a tad.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft at monks. Pours a bloodlust body with a thin pink lacing. Very dry tart cherries with very low acidity. Tart cherries lightly woody with some earth and cherry pits. Wow this is awesome!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Monks Cafe out of the beer engine. Pour was a nice ruby with very little head and aromas of musty, tart cherries. Flavor is more of the same, but has that strange Cantillon thinness in the mouthfeel. I could drink this every day.

Cask, at Monkís Cafe. Pours hazy maroon, capped with a medium-sized pink head that fades gradually to a ring of bubbles. Aroma is predominantly black cherry, with notes of wet leather, vanilla, and fairly mild acidity. Flavor is also fruit forward, with wood, vanilla, tannins, earth, and leather complimenting the sour cherry. Acidity is only moderate. Incredibly drinkable and very tasty.

Notes amalgamated from a few samples. Deep cherry red colour with lots of haziness. The aroma is intensely fruity with loads of soft cherry aroma, light woodiness and a soft vineous tannic note as well. Kiss of almond/cherry pit on the nose as well. There is a kiss of vanilla and a faint acetone character that accentuates, rather than dominates the fruit. Soft funkiness on the back that picks up as you work your way through the glass. Earthy, sour and intensely funky, but the sourness is quite muted, especially for Cantillon. More lactic and soft than the typical citric Cantillon house character. Musty/musky flavour toward the back finishing with a shot of acid. This stuff is really complex and has a subtlety all itís own. Definitely worth seeking out if you find yourself in Philly.
