4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2013 Ruby/pink pour with pinkish white head. Massive aromas of raspberry, candy, bubblegum, slightly grassy, barnyard. Tart, sweet, effervescent, quinine, lemon juice. Very refreshing and tingly on the palate, coats the tongue. Pretty confident that this review does not do this fantastic lambic justice. More please !!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle shared at Zwanze Day 2013 at Holy Grale in Louisville. 2010 vintage. Pours a clear pinkish ruby red, clear, with a small tinted pink head. Aroma of raspberry, cheesecloth, funk, herbs, and a bit of candy/cough drop. Flavor is the same- raspberries, more tartness, and a dry sort of funk. Light-bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a tart, fruity, dry mouthfeel. Excellent framboise lambic.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2007 vintage: The aroma is musty, acetic, and funk with a little fruit creeping in. Pours a deep red hue with some very light pink head. The taste is very sour with a little bit of sweet fruitiness; kind of like a raspberry vinegar. Absolutely loved this one!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from etregourmet.be biershop, shared with the Die By the Beer crew during Bergen Ølfestival 2013. At last - my missing link in the Lou Pepe series! :-) Pours a near-clear deep cherry red body with a pink hue and a small pink-hued white head. Nose is intense raspberry tones, lemon, voluminous fruity tones, spices and hints of hay. Taste is tart horsey lemony tones, huge raspberry notes (but not quite as huge as in the aroma), apple vinegar and hints of red fruits. Big and complex. Soft carbonation. A massive and fruity framboose from Cantillon. Amazing, and I expected no less.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2010 bottle. Thanks to DocJ007 for the share at our recent tasting.
A - Pours raspberry red with a nice one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty trails of lace down part of the glass.
S - Smells of intense basement must and barnyard funk and not much else. Not a ton of fresh fruit which is a bit surprising with such a fresh bottle but it is still enjoyable.
T - Starts off with the strong must and funk combo that never really fades away. The raspberries come through a little more here but they are still more muted than I was expecting. Finish is still pretty musty with some lingering tartness. Not overly sour like some of the aged bottles I have had, but not as bright with the fruit either.
M - Medium-Light body with moderately high carbonation. The spritzy feel propels the musty, tart flavors across the palate.
O - My first time having this one fresh and it was interesting. I was expecting a lot more fruit than I got from it, mostly the trademark Cantillon musty funk combo but that is fine as well. Probably my least favorite of the three Lou Pepe’s but still a beer worth seeking out.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle with 2010 on the cork. Red/deep pink, slightly cloudy, with a large fizzy, quickly diminishing off white pink tinged head. Even with the age on it has a huge fresh raspberry aroma, sweet, and tart. Flavor is super dry, sour raspberry, barnyard, cereal malt, berry, lemon juice, brett, extremely tart - bites the back of the throat. A potent, delicious lambic.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The bottle was from 2007, at Beer Bistro (Toronto). It poured cloudy copper with sapphire undertones; the head was salmon coloured and foamy. The aroma had notes of: hay, barnyard funk, sour berries, and lemon-juice. The taste was heavy sour/tart that finished medium astringent; there were notes of: the aforementioned aroma notes. The palate was full-bodied, has medium carbonation, was quite sticky, with a long finish. Overall, this beer is something to salivate over.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
75cl bottle (2010). Lovely rosy pink pour. Aroma is full of tart raspberry, barnyard funk notes, spices, light citric notes. Taste is so assertive: tart zingy raspberry flavours fill the mouth, some teeth-coating fructose sweetness, nice lemon juice, light spice. Lingering sour raspberry and yeast funk. Stunning.
