4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 MotherBrother (555) - Aalborg, DENMARK - JUN 10, 2013
Pour a beautiful hazy pink, with a large frothy light pink head. Aroma of delicious raspberries, slight funk, some green apples perhaps and plenty of the cantillon geuze shining through. The taste is pretty sour, with a slight fruity sweetness to it. This thing is pretty darn delicious, not as candied as the 3fontainen, but pretty darn delicious.
Regular geuze moutfeel, with a rather fizzy carbonation.

75cl, 2013 bottle from La Cave à Bulles in Paris, France. Pours a deep ruby-amber colored body with a finger-width, fizzy, pinkish purple head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma has lots of fresh, tart raspberries with a nice woody funk. Pleasantly acidic with some other berry notes as well. Flavor is similar. Lots of fresh, tart raspberries up front with a nice acidity. Gets woody and funky while drying out with a nice, tart fruitiness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and a somewhat lively, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really awesome beer. This was bottled in March, so the raspberries are still very fresh tasting. Extremely clean and well done.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Martinus (1878) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 28, 2013
Vintage 2010
Deep red colour, pink head. Aroma of red fruits, redcurrants, raspberry and funk. Sour flavour, raspberry, light sweet. Fruity finish, raspberry and citrus.
Nice, but not as fruity as the other Lou Pepe’s I’ve had, even lighter in fruitiness compared to the Rosé De Gambrinus. Should open another vintage of LPF at home soon to compare.

2006 vintage - opened last night
Wow, they aren’t kidding when they say the color is onion skin! The nose on this one was straight up raspberries and barnyard funk! The sourness was impressive but not overly vinegar, and just plain delicious!!! So glad I saved this as long as I did and so happy to have finally had the opportunity to savor it!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - APR 28, 2013
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell, London during the Birthday Celebration of Jack & Leighton - big thanks to Jack for making my Cantillon dreams come true. Vintage 2008 bottle. Pours murky ruby with a light, pink cream head. Alright, from here out the review will be brief; this is the best beer of the day for me and I’m just going to sit back and enjoy it. Bottom line: great beer. Big tang, loads of tart raspberry. Quenching. Delicious.
4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 gramity (1090) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 26, 2013
This beer has a gorgeous appearance - a reddish-purple hue, with a pink foam head that sticks around longer than expected, and leaves no lacing, as is expected. Wonderful aromas of raspberries, hay, barnyard funk. Classic Cantillon scents - simply wonderful. I could sniff this beer for several minutes without taking a drink. The aroma alone is worthy of praise and attention. This beer is truly excellent. While definitely tart, I would not say that it is incredibly sour. Lou Pepe Framboise is extremely drinkable, and has a much milder acetic finish than the Rosé de Gambrinus. Very pleasant lingering tart raspberry aftertaste. Delicious!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Theydon_Bois (3392) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 19, 2013
Bottle - thanks to Jack at Leightons and his birthday pleasantries, 13/04/13.
Reddish amber (light was fading a little by now) with a good sized light crimson head.
Nose carries tarte raspeberries, funk, earth, must, old chest of draws sat in the garage since 1972, lightly soured berry fruits.
Taste comprises much of the same, funk, barnyard, raspberry forward, tarte and soured berry fruits, light sugars.
Medium bodied with light spritzy carbonation befitting the style.
Excellent!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jackl (2830) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2013
2008 bottle at the birthday tasting. The pour’s deep red with a small off-white head. Really bright, jammy nose. Loads of tart raspberry. A bit of nose-tingling barnyard. Mild acid. The taste is similarly jammy. Nicely clean, sharp raspberry fruit profile. Pillowy sweetness. There’s a building green apple skin acidity in the finish. Otherwise, light refreshing stuff. Light body, medium carbonation. Overall, a great fruit lambic. Highly drinkable.
