4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ok, one of my last final rates before I retire and turn professional with my current beer project. As Cantillon has been such a remarkable and shamefully ignored brand I feel I should include them in my final rates
On the eye this beer is extremely pleasant. Extremely red on the side but if you hold it up to the light there is a lovely sunbeam golden red colour which is really stunning. it is very hazy and dark but the colour is still gorgeous.
The aroma is strawberries; perfume, white wine grapes and very faint lemons. The taste is plenty of strawberries, a sweet and ripe texture, the acidic levels is quite sharp and dry, very tarty but not too aggressive. The palate is sticky and almost lemon-tart like but very drinkable and an interesting taste of maybe elderflower combined with the strawberries. Really complex and challenging to describe.
The sourness sticks to your mouth for quite some considerable time afterwords and this is no complaint. The finish is incredibly long; vinegary and woody. This beer is a bomber from 2008 and has evened out well. A classic lambic. Bought from Utobeer in Borough Market, London.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours hazy orange with a small pink head. Aroma of raspberry and wood notes. Dry, tart flavor that ends up solid sour and with bitter notes. Medium bodied, watery text. and soft carb. An excellen, crispt fruit lambic.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
vintage 2009 (per sticker, doesn’t have the label, per Jean’s personal attention to the bottle), bottled 2012 per cork.
Thanks to Brandon and Emily for bringing this out from Paris!
Pours a simply gorgeous razzy red. Really lovely cherry blossom caps this one. Nose carries more funk than I’d anticipated, really the earthy aspect of Cantillon’s arsenal. The raspberries come through acidic and sharp with hints of vinous shreds. Flavor carries surprising balance. The tartness and buxelles funk are soo well balanced with generous bounties of raspberries. The whole thing comes together and reminds me of a freshly picked raspberry during the high sun of an August day mixed with the grit of a solid days hike. A little full bodied with reserved carbonation accentuated the generous fruit endowment for the beer. Finish made me want another sip of the beer, and a gulp of ice cold water. Really a step up from the Rose, and I appreciate the attention to detail here.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours clear ruby, lighter than kriek, large pink, quickly dissipating head.
Smell puckering sour raspberry. Fruity. Mouth watering raspberry. Funky and slightly musty. Bit sweet.
Taste huge tartness up front, less fruit than Rose de Gambrinus but more complex, more oak, dryer.
Lighter bodied, refreshing.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bought at the brewery this summer. Pours red with a pink head. Smell is all about raspberries. Sour though. Taste is almost just like raspberry juice. Extremely fresh and fizzy. Really a successful framboise! This in a hot summerday would be incredible!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at De Heeren van Liederkercke, thnx to kermis!! 2010 vintage. Pours a clear pink beer with a small ring of pink head on top. Aroma is full of raspberry funk, very fruity overall and the Brett has faded away in the background. Some light oaky touches in the background as well. Flavor is medium sweet with some tartness in it, big fruity and raspberry influences in the whole body of the beer. Dry, oaky finish with decent carbonation going on. Very well crafted
