| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 31, 2006 Updated: Oct 15, 2008Thanks JasonC! Poured from a 2001 bottle. The aroma is pine sap with cinnamon and nice earthen funky cherries and lemons. Wow!!! This is REALLY tart. You may actually get jaw ache from cringing too much. The beer pours to a deep reddish cherry color with a nice fizzy white head. The flavor is really intense tart cherries and grapes with some nice cinnamon spice and light apples. Once you get past the first hit with the intense sourness, the complexity really opens up. The palate is really tart and good feeling. 8, 4, 9, 4, 18 = 4.3.
Thanks JasonN. 2002 vintage. Phenomenally tart. Puckeringly sour flavor of fruity cherries and pie filling. Ridiculously tart palate but finishes clean. The aroma’s god some tart cherries and funky horseblankets. Very "simple" but masterfully made. 8, 4, 9, 5, 18 = 4.4 JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 31, 2006 2001 vintage; sampled Jan 2006. Raspberry colored clear body, pick bubbly/creamy head. Woody dry cherry and barnyard vinegar aroma, dry weed stems, urine soaked and dried blanket, fresh liquid cowpie (thanks Dave), sour patch kids. Very smooth sour cherry taste (overall). This is extremely smooth, for a "sour" beer. Some oak perhaps, mostly cherry sour patch kids without the fakeness, but does have Kool Aid hints. Generally full of flavor. Booyah. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2006 There is lots of wood and cherry in this, chased and eventually overtaken by incredible vinegary sourness and patches (mostly in the aroma) of green smoke and cinnamon. It grew on me, but again one of those beers that I couldn’t manage a whole bottle of.
