Fresh sour cherries (krieken) in two year old Lambiek. We use approximately 300 gr cherries for 1 liter Kriek. The second fermentation in the bottle is obtained through addition of a liqueur, made with beer and saccharose.

75 cl. Bottle bought at Cantillon. Vintage 2004. Huge off-white frothy head that mostly lasted. Cloudy to muddy dark reddish color. Aroma of strong cherry, leather, almond, citrus, vinegar, sour sweet and woody notes. Over the palate came strong sour and wood like notes with cherry and some fruitiness. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sour with some counter sweetness. Lingering sour fruity finish. Seems more smooth with age. A lovely Lambic!

750ml bottle poured in a chalice. Bottle from September 2009. Cork in perfect state. A: Absolutely beautiful deep ruby red color with a huge rose aired bubbled head. Medium retention and practically no lacings left S: Acid and fruity on the nose. Cherry tart. Oak and Lambic yeasts T: Mild sourness. Cherry, crispy malts, barrel and yeasts M: Light body. Bit molasses. Reasonable carbonation and good moderate sour aftertaste O: High drinkability. Beautiful beer. The best Cantillon Iíve ever had [ BA Review @ 1/22/2012 ]

after several tries of the second vintage: 4.9. Original at 5.0: #800 - Hey_Kevin brought this from the wilds of Johnís Grocery in Iowa City and I am indebted; he and his friend Frank and I had an excellent afternoon of sampling a couple of rare beers while watching the kids play with their new yo yo balls. On to the beer - incredibly rich cheesy horseblanket, the kind of oaky woodiness normally I only sense in Hanssenís and the most incredibly sour Schaarbeek cherries - a bit softer that Cantillonís regular Kriek, and slightly more sour than Oud Beersel Kriek, but just as complex. The Gueuze is limited to 120 (!) bottles, but this does not have a bottle number on it. The label says 1999, the cork indicates a bottling of 2001. Delicious, and utterly world class.

2007 bottle - How can a 7 year old bottle hold so many fruit notes? Dark cherry pour with tons of fruit and funky barnyardness (yes that is a word). Shit tons of super tart cherries and mouth puckering tartness without an overwhelming amount of acidity. Long dry finish. Great stuff

Spina @ Eurhop 2014. Rossa quasi fosforescente con bella schiuma. Acida, aspra e molto amarenosa. Ottima.

This 2007 vintage bottle pours with a rosy deep red to purple body that supports a white head of foam that has a bit of a pinkish hue. The aroma offers up a modest degree of funk, some fruity candy tartness and cherries. The taste is straight up tartness that gets puckering and biting to midway. Behind the tartness is a nice cherry thing going on. It gets fully tart and puckering into the finish. Do damn tart

"more cherry apparent then in the regular kriek. still way more sour and tart than sweet, but the cherries were obvious, as well as the intense tartness. still not sold on Cantillon at the high prices, but this is a very good beer. 8/11-the 2008 vintage just blew my mind. first Cantillon beer Iíve had that was hands down worth the $. i donít know if itís the vintage, or the age, but iíll be looking for more. ridiculous complexity, and one of the best uses of fruit in beer iíve had to date. time will tell if this one was the anomaly, or the last, but the 08 was amazing!"

2011 sticker. Thanks to Erik. Opened this last in the cantillon tasting. Good, but I actually think Ioked the LP fram better. Lots of tart cherry. Very dry like a red wine which kinda turned me off. Slightly sour, less than I expected.

On tap at Zwanze Day. Hazy deep red colour with a fluffy pinkish head. Tart, yeast, oak, and fruit in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste starts tart but then turns into a complexity complicated to describe with fruitiness, vinegar and sour notes. Overall, a nice lambic.
