Fresh sour cherries (krieken) in two year old Lambiek. We use approximately 300 gr cherries for 1 liter Kriek. The second fermentation in the bottle is obtained through addition of a liqueur, made with beer and saccharose.

75 cl. Bottle bought at Cantillon. Vintage 2004. Huge off-white frothy head that mostly lasted. Cloudy to muddy dark reddish color. Aroma of strong cherry, leather, almond, citrus, vinegar, sour sweet and woody notes. Over the palate came strong sour and wood like notes with cherry and some fruitiness. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sour with some counter sweetness. Lingering sour fruity finish. Seems more smooth with age. A lovely Lambic!

This one poured a Ruby red color with a pinkish head. Aroma was of cherry cough drops, cinnamon, and mild funk. Flavor was similar, dark cherry skin cinnamon character with underlying barnyard funk. Pretty good.

75cl Pours a hazy purple pink with fluffy dissipating pinkish white head that leaves very light lace. Aroma of funky yeasty awesome fruit, lactic hay. Taste follows, nice cherry flavor, wow. Bubbly and refreshing on the tongue, not overly sour. Amazing.

Draught at pikkulintu. Pours murky dark red with pink fluffy lacing head and a sour scent. First taste like an explosion of sour cherries also some marzipan, and perhaps some other berries also in taste. Nice rounded sweet and sour taste. Well balanced. Goes down really easy on this hot summer day.

Tap @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Pours a carmine red with a small, slightly pinkish head. Aroma is a lot of sour vinegar, cherry and berries. Taste follows along the same lines. Tart with vinegar and cherry as well as berries. Dry. Full with some carbonation. Just plain superb.

Some people with a bottle and a sample for lil ol me: Pours opaque red with loose with head. Aroma is cherries, the funk, hints of vinegar, and wood. Taste is not as sour as I expected, but very tart and tangy. The cherries add very little in the way of sweetness, but compliment the sour aspects. Very pleasant mouthfeel. This was a 2011 bottle by the way.

Another wonderful Kriek from this brewery. Great use of different sour cherries, the fermentation turned out fantastic, with perfect palate. One of the most complex Krieks I have had, and real balanced to match.
