Tap @ Spuyten Duyvil for Zwanze Day 2012. Pours a cloudy golden with mild orange hue. Huge, strong, rocky bleach white head that takes forever to dissipate (tapping had to go into pitchers before pouring into glasses). The aroma was filled with peppery spices and floral notes on top of a lactic sour base. On the palate, the tart sour notes dominate until the finish when clearly floral and earth notes come through. Finishes clean and crisp with a mild pepper zing on the end. Fabulous stuff. Sessionable if you can find enough of it.

Bottle. 2011 brew/2013 bottling. A: Pumpkin orange color with a white head. No real lacing of which to speak. N: Elderflower, lemon, pink grapefruit, cedar bark, grain, pine, loam, funk, apple cider vinegar, bubble gum, lavender, and maybe chamomile...maybe. N: Very sour. Not many other taste descriptors, because my god is this sour. M: Foamy light body, prickly carbonation, no alcohol presence. O: This beer is incredibly unique, though I remember thinking that Cable Car had a lot in common with it way back when. Recommended, but don’t be surprised if the elderflowers put you off.

750ml bottle served in a flute glass. Bottled in March, 2012. A: Pours a yellow to orange cloudy color forming a big bubbled and aired white to yellow head. Good retention and many lacings left around. Interesting enough is the fact that you can see some pollen floating around inside the bottle S: A mix of flowers and Lambic. Sour and, at the same time, delicate. The perfume of elderberry flower is really fantastic. Unique and perfect T: Again, a flower bomb. Strong notes of elderberry flowers followed by malts and Lambic yeasts. Slightly sweet and sour upfront followed by a mild bitterness in the end which I suppose comes from the flowers too. In overall, a dry taste. Perfect in the mouth too M: Light body and medium carbonation. Flowery aftertaste O: Very drinkable. A unique experience. One of the best Cantillon I’ve ever had [ BA Review @ 3/9/2013 ]

Bottle. Hazy amber pour with a thick, fuzzy off-white head. Aroma of malt, florals and sour fruit. Tart flavor with some bitter florals before a sour finish.

I was not a fan of this until this year’s Zwanze Day, but this keg was amazing. The floral character was extremely pleasant rather than overly herbaceous, and this is definitely a lactic beauty, not overwhelmingly sour but great tartness.

2013, thanks Bryan. Tart, slight sour. Some floral bitter hops. Wine and vinegar. Similar to iris and cuvée.

"A nice sour from Cantillon. 2009 bottle. Funky barnyard, lemons, and some floral qualities to the aroma. Flavor is sour, not quite bracingly so, but not subtle either. There is little sweetness, but an underlying pleasant fruitiness, with hints at bitterness and stinky cheese. Good stuff."

Draft. Pour is hazy orange, minimal head. Earthy, dank, and floral on the nose. Taste is tart and floral, with the elderberries just adding a unique tinge to the palette. Very nice lambic.
